We were speechless when Lucy and Mitch’s day came our way (and it’s not often that we’re lost for words!) Where do we even begin? Firstly, there’s the beautiful blooms and the bling. When the bride is a florist and jeweller, would you expect anything short of perfection? We also love love love that these two tied the knot at their favourite Great Ocean Road locale, A La Grecque, meaning they’ll get to relive the magic every date night – cute! “We go all the time with friends and family. We love the food, wine and laid-back environment.”

Lucy and Mitch were looking 11/10, as was their ‘I Do’ crew (we spy some slick suits from Hello May mates Joe Black!) Brown Paper Parcel was behind the lens, so trust us, you’ll want to clear your schedule because it’s gonna be hard to tear your gaze away (guilty as charged!). Keep scrolling for all the goodness.

FAVE DETAILS “My sweet nan hand-pressed each flower to decorate our wedding cake, which was made by a dear friend. This made the cake even more meaningful and special. I also loved the cake created by Original Cyn with ‘Still The One’ on top. Being a Shania Twain fan, I also got this quote engraved on my wedding ring in tribute to Shania… I mean to Mitch. After the ceremony, the bridal party had drinks and oysters at our favourite wine bar in Aireys Inlet, Le Comptoir. This was a fun moment to relax and spend time with them. It was pelting down rain at the time, so it worked perfectly to be inside in a cosy space. A friend kindly lent his white Cadillac to transport between venues, which we loved. It was fun to cruise around in and have some time together amidst the excitement of the day.”

DIY “Being a florist and jeweller, I created our wedding bands and flowers which was fun. I was wrapping bouquets right before my makeup and hair. I’m not sure if I’d recommend doing your own, but in hindsight I’m glad I did, I think… haha. I was very lucky to have my florist friend, Courtney from Torquay Florist, help me set up the ceremony flowers, but I must say it was a big job in the lead-up and going to the venue in the morning.”

MEMORABLE MOMENT “One of our favourite moments was our wedding dance which came as a shock as we weren’t sure how it would go. We looked up a couple of moves on YouTube the week before and somehow whipped something together. The dance floor to follow was also epic thanks to Like This Band.”

A TOUCH OF TRADITION “Mum passed away in 2021, hence why we held off the wedding. I wore my late mum’s wedding dress for the dance floor/reception. I got it cut and altered into a mini. Mum loved music and a dance, so it worked perfectly. We played many of her favourite songs and had a photo of her wearing her wedding dress on the bar. A family friend also handmade a crochet purse holding a photo frame of Mum that could be carried around on the day. A very special, thoughtful touch. We also did a Sambuca shot in tribute to her. She was very much a part of the day without being physically present.”

WE’RE GLAD WE “We ended up booking a videographer. It wasn’t in the budget, but we made it work, and we’re so glad we did. There is nothing like looking back at footage to remember the day.”

STANDOUT VENDORS “We absolutely loved ‘Like This Band’. They were unbelievable and definitely made the day. Besides being extremely talented, they bring great positive energy and get everyone involved. We also loved Jess from Brown Paper Parcel, Julia from Moon & Back, Izzy our celebrant, and Lucy from Lulu Creative, who managed the day. We had to make a quick last-minute change of ceremony 15 minutes before commencing due to the weather turning, and Lucy made it happen seamlessly. Chérie (makeup artist) and Ashlea (hair stylist) were also fantastic. To be honest, all of our vendors were amazing and we felt very lucky to have them.”

How flippin’ cute are Lucy and Mitch’s wedding cakes?! We’ve baked up some more sugary sweet inspo here, just for you. Or if locking in looks for the guys is still on your to-do list, you’ll find more from our stylish friends Joe Black over here.
