THE VENUE “We wanted something that was low-key, felt like us and had an outdoor element. In the end, it was the long dining hall and beautiful courtyard of Recoleta that helped cement our choice.”
THE INSPO “To create something that was intimate, relaxed and family orientated. In terms of the aesthetics, we chose a colour palette of reds, pinks and oranges for our flowers and cake.”
FAVOURITE DETAILS “I loved the invitations and the name placeholders because Marc designed them which was special. Everything was actually perfect. We walked into Recoleta together after our ceremony and were greeted by our family and friends and saw the space set for the first time. The flowers were abundant and so beautiful and the team at Recoleta had done an amazing job setting up.”
THE DRESS “I did quite a lot of online research before finding Rachel Gilbert. I wanted a wedding dress that wasn’t traditional and more sculptural. The dress that eventually became my wedding dress was the first dress I tried on. We knew almost instantly that it was the one.”
WE’RE GLAD WE… “We’re glad we kept the number of guests small and intimate, we felt pressure at times to do something grander, but that wouldn’t have suited us. It was important to us that we felt comfortable. We also decided to keep our ceremony very intimate, it was just the two of us, our daughter and our two witnesses. That moment was personal to us and we didn’t want to say our vows to an audience.”
STANDOUT VENDORS “Ilsa Wynne-Hoelscher Kidd, our photographer, was amazing, she absolutely understood our brief, to capture candid natural photographs documenting our day. We will cherish those photographs forever. Recoleta (via Spring St. Events) took care of absolutely everything and their service was unfaultable. Our guests were praising the quality (and quantity) of food for weeks afterwards.”
