For Lucy and Joel, getting hitched is all about “that idea that you are my person forever”. Aww, love that! These guys had been together for 14 years before they said ‘I do’, following a mountain-top proposal in Japan. “I was clueless!” laughs Lucy.
Fast-forward four years (they settled right on into the engaged stage!) and this pair made it official in front of 100 of their loved ones at the awesome Post Office Hotel in Melbourne’s Coburg. And we’ve got to say, they did a stellar job lining up a pretty epic team of vendors. With Kyra Boyer on pics, celebrant Nat Sproal doing the legal bits oh-so beautifully and Baker Boys Band bringing the tunes, this was one epic party.
Plus, shoutout to the bride and groom’s styling choices – with Grace Loves Lace for her, M.J. Bale for him and a flower crown for their sweet doggo, Oki, they couldn’t go wrong!
THE VENUE “We had been to The Post Office Hotel a few times for friends’ birthdays and I really loved the idea of having the ceremony and reception all in one place. Plus it’s such a cool venue that works with you and your style!”
FAVE DETAILS “I loved our flowers by Lilac and the Cat so much as they were dried – I really enjoyed the fact they were different. The cake was also gorgeous and delicious – even better, our good friend at La Bella Dolce made it for us, which was so special. A highlight for the both of us was also having our dog, Oki, a Bernese Mountain dog, be a part of our day. Our photographer Kyra Boyer captured her and us so perfectly!”
THE DRESS I went with my mum, my sister and my best friend to try on a few dresses at Grace Loves Lace. The Edie dress I went with was so different and perfect, I was sold then and there. I went back one more time before confirming that was the dress for me but did not look at anything else after that.”
THE SUIT “Joel had tried on a suit with a friend and I was not sold on it at all (too light for him!). So we went to M.J. Bale, he tried on the suit and that was it! Very easy and simple.”
MEMORABLE MOMENT “Speeches were a huge highlight with tears and lots of laughter – they were so perfect and a memory we won’t forget, especially after Joel told me he wrote me a poem… I was thinking it would be all loving and nice, but it was a joke about him always loving my bum haha!”
A WORD OF ADVICE “Be true to yourselves and do things the way you want them done.”
STANDOUT VENDORS “Big shoutout to Caitlin at The Post Office Hotel for all her support and help in moving our wedding date and for checking in every single step of the way. Kyra Boyer, our photographer, was also so personable and perfect for taking our photos with us and capturing our perfect day and us so well! And Jane from Lilac and the Cat, who created our perfect dried flowers and our dog’s gorgeous flower collar!”
