These friends turned lovebirds, were engaged for three years after a “magical” proposal in Japan, however, “only really started organising all the details about six weeks before,” so safe to say they were busy! Add in the fact that Louise made her own jumpsuit and the girls made their own engagement rings and impressed is an understatement! Elsa Campbell was there to capture their love story in these beautiful pics, so scroll down for all, as well as details on that DIY…
THE INSPO “We wanted to capture a colourful, laughter-filled, sunshine-y moment in time. Our dress code was ‘colourful with comfy shoes’, and the vibe we were after was a sunny, relaxed, garden party. The styling and the flowers by Prunella were exactly what we had hoped for and helped set that tone. Our bouquets were perfect, full of huge dahlias and even included a few non-traditional things like passionfruit vine tendrils. The huge florals at the ceremony and in the reception were a hit too!”
THE VENUE “We wanted to get married in the Macedon Ranges where Louise grew up, and chose Cadella Park for their amazing tree-lined driveway. The property had that extra something. It also helped that they were able to take care of everything – food, drinks, flowers, styling, on-the-day event management, and stationery were all organised through the venue.”
DIY “I made my blue jumpsuit! I knew I wanted to wear something locally made in a natural fibre, and I spent hours online trying to find something that spoke to me. In the end I just decided to make something myself! I had a style in mind and had adapted it to make it more like me – including adding a big bow on the back and essential pockets! I did the majority of the construction, and had a tailor help with putting in the zip and some fitting adjustments. We also took a silver lost wax casting class and made our engagement rings together. It wasn’t fancy or expensive but it was really sweet, and we learned a new skill.”
THE SUIT “Louise’s suit was from E Nolan. As soon as we found Em we were totally obsessed, and knew she was the one. We visited her Dressing Room a few times for fittings and it was like an amazing mashup of a lesson on the history of suiting, at the same time as catching up with a friend. She was incredible.”
REFERENCES “We used Hello May a lot actually! It was great to get a sense of who the quality vendors were – it really helped to point us in the right direction without being too posh or frilly. We then did some more research to find people who would match the style we were going for – e.g. we chose Elsa Campbell for her relaxed, colourful photos, and Celebrant Kate for her calm and sentimental approach to everything.”
STANDOUT VENDORS “We were so grateful Elsa Campbell was able to squeeze us in. We were blown away by her photos and her lovely, laid back and fun vibe – with some structure when we needed it! We also loved Celebrant Kate. She had a calm, professional approach and we totally trusted her to create the right balance of sentimentality and laughter. Also, the team from Prunella. The day couldn’t have been so great without them behind the scenes making it all happen.”
