More often than not, how people feel in the lead up to their wedding is a choice. They either- A: get frazzled over every tiny detail (vanilla or cream cheese icing?) or B: trust their instinct, lap up their engagement and leave most things to their capable vendors. Lou and Jamie (of the Real Wedding Special) chose the latter option and in turn, enjoyed a day that was fun, relaxed and filled with pretty things.
£We were glad that we had complete trust in our vendors to bring our ideas to life. It meant the days leading up to our wedding could be enjoyed together in anticipation rather than spent stressing about everything being finished on time, says Lou, a naturopath whose priority has always been her health.
£Interestingly, I learnt a lot about my own health leading up to my wedding, about investing as much time and energy into keeping ourselves healthy as we did into organising everything else.”
When her and Jaime were in wedding mode however, they were on fire. Over 18 months they handpicked each and every one of their incredible Melbourne-based vendors, including photographer Oli, of Briars Atlas, as casually as if choosing what to have for breakfast.
£Zonzo was the very first (and only) venue that we looked at. We had visited the winery for lunch a number of times and loved the food, service and the relaxed and beautiful rustic atmosphere. We had a really good gut feeling that it would be perfect for our wedding and it was! It definitely reflected our fun, lively and easy going personalities.
For Lou, even finding her dream dress was a piece of cake. £I always knew I wanted a Rue De Seine dress. I was lucky enough to hear about their trunk show at The Bridal Atelier in Armadale and I got the very last available booking. Erin and Amy at The Bridal Atelier are absolute sweethearts and made finding my wedding dress a real joy.
Their wedding day unfolded with just as much ease. The venue looked incredible with flowers placed elegantly along their rectangular wooden tables and Lou’s DIY wedding favours (her own herbal tea blend) sitting pretty beside their name cards by Ink Hearts Paper.
£We loved the long tables and beautiful lighting where guests could mingle and get to know each other?.. although we are pretty sure everyone spent most of the night getting to know each other on the dance floor!
