We’d like to give a huge round of applause to Lindsay for that enormous bow adorning the back of her dress on the day she married Julian, because it is e-v-e-r-y-t-h-i-n-g. What could possibly be better than a giant bow? Nothing, is the answer. Nothing is better. Except maybe the addition of some pockets…

Okay, enough about the dress already – how about a minute for the rest of this gorgeous big day, held in effortlessly cool Melbourne joint Poodle Bar & Bistro? “I wanted a smaller wedding that was functional and intimate, where we could really spend time with each other,” the bride explains of their decision to keep things small and sweet. “We both really just wanted it to feel like us, too. ‘Low-key’ was really the essence of the evening mixed in with some very beautiful food, wine and flowers.” And with the talented Jess Tremp of Brown Paper Parcel on hand to snap pics, Lindsay and Julian scored the wedding of their dreams!

THE VENUEJules and I went on a date to Poodle when it first opened in 2020…we went the night before the second huge lockdown. We sat upstairs and I loved the décor, I thought if ever we decided to have a small event it was a beautiful space to consider. It was at the top of my mind for when we decided to have a separate civil wedding with family and we just went with it.”

FAVE DETAILSThe flowers were insane. Nat from Wild Flos is a friend of a friend and I reached out to her last minute to organise the florals. She blew us away. I wanted reds and textured arrangements. The red hydrangeas were out of this world!”

THE DRESSMy Emilia Wickstead dress was definitely a favourite for me – I felt so much like myself in it. It was actually the first thing I purchased as soon as I got engaged. I didn’t know what I would wear it for, but knew it needed to be incorporated into my wedding somehow. I purchased it from Net-a-Porter. It fit like a glove!”

TAKE ON TRADITIONMy background is Goan (Indian) and my family members do a blessing where they take the bride’s hands before she is married and give their wish to you. I did not prepare myself for all of the emotions that were to come. It was such a special and powerful moment between me and my family, many of whom I had not seen in so long, giving me their advice and blessings.”

STANDOUT VENDORWithout a doubt, our photographer Jess Tremp from Brown Paper Parcel. We were so comfortable and at ease with her from the get-go. I joked that Jess has six hands because I honestly do not know how she managed to capture so many beautiful moments from our day. We have the most amazing photos that help us relive the day and are so grateful that we could work with someone who felt like an old friend.”
