Just when we thought we’d seen it all, Leigh and Ben came along and blew our minds with their Back to the Future themed wedding. “What’s not to love about Back to the Future – classic 50s style, kick ass 80s music and a Delorean! Plus it’s actually a really romantic movie with Marty McFly travelling back in time to make sure his parents end up falling in love. The Back to the Future twist seemed like a fun way to capture a 50s feel with a massive surprise for all our guests (who didn’t know until the Delorean showed up unexpectedly after the ceremony to whisk us away, complete with the Doc played by one of our friends who was in on the surprise)”, says Leigh.
Both happily throwing out high-fives, Leigh an Ben were completely stoked with how their day turned out, thanks especially to some of our favourite vendors in the whole wide world including photographer Jess Jackson, florist Kate Dawes, event stylists Hope & Lace, hair and makeup artists The Beauty Case and celebrant Paul Voge – most of who have graced the pages of Hello May magazine. Everything from the ceremony to Leigh’s beautiful bouquet to their quirky, enchanted underwater reception was perfect and suited Leigh and Ben to a tee.
Other highlights of the night included Leigh’s vintage Bergdorf Goodman gown which she found online via La Belle Vintage and their amazing four piece band, Dick Smithers and the Doo Wops, who kept guests dancing all night. Last but not least was their guestbook of which Ben tells us, “We also decided to make a high school year book as our guest book, using photos of all our guests, as a surprise.” Genius!
