Laura is a model agent at Priscillas, so to say she knows what’s up (stylish, cool, cute etc) is an understatement. And you can tell, right? The bride describes their wedding as “a Disco Cowboy Bush Doof,” and we are here for it. “Lots of disco balls, whiskey shots, heaps of colour and sparkle,” she adds. Heart Party captured the good times on camera and you can find everything below, from the pics to our chat with this lovely couple…

LITTLE LOLS “Far too many – some that are only funny now (like me having a bit too much fun at our engagement party and dislocating my knee). The night before the wedding was the first time I had felt full-blown stressed in the entire planning process due to a series of unfortunate events (half the Champagne not arriving, our singer cancelling with less than 24 hours notice and my parent’s house nearly burning down in the bushfires) and this cumulated in me getting an earring stuck in my hair on the drive to the pre-wedding dinner, and calmly asking my dad for his Swiss army knife and cutting a chunk out of my hair, as my best friend looked on in horror. [Also], finding one of the groomsmen passed out in a paddock with his head on a cow patty.”

THE VENUE “We came across Yarramalong Valley Farmstay on Hello May actually, and it seemed perfect. We drove out to see it and completely fell in love with it instantly. It was the only venue we saw! We did the whole set-up of the wedding ourselves the day before, it felt good to have it exactly how we wanted it and then for Liz to come in and make it beautiful with her florals.”

FAVE DETAILS “Our invitations were designed by a dear friend of ours (Bree Rennie) who is a tattoo artist and were my favourite part of the wedding. We also had another tattoo artist friend (Heath Nock) design signage for us which was the perfect fit for the vibe. For me, the piece de resistance was the incredible floral alter Liz at Elle Rose Floral Design designed based off of my wacky description of what I wanted.”

THE DRESS “I had initially fallen in love with a dress that was WAY out of my price range, and then came across Natalie Wynn Design on Instagram – the second I saw the Starstruck Gown I knew it was the one. Natalie is based in Utah, USA so she made my dress from scratch based on measurements my friend’s housemate (who works for an Australian bridal designer) did in their lounge room one night. I altered bits of the dress to suit my taste more – more volume in the sleeves and skirt and anxiously awaited its arrival. It was perfect!”

MEMORABLE MOMENT “Walking down the aisle and being greeted by a Jameson Whiskey shot  – everyone present (including my grandparents) did a shot of whiskey before the ceremony began and it set such a vibe. We have a pretty wild group of friends and it didn’t take long for shirts to come off and the dance party to begin the second the sun went down.”

STANDOUT VENDORS “We are very blessed to have fabulous friends across hospitality and fashion, and asking our dear friend Jack Henry of Heart Party to shoot the wedding was a no brainer – there was literally no other option. We looked at SO many food options but decided that we just wanted to throw a big feast – and asked our friends at Buffalo Dining Club if they’d consider catering our wedding. People are still talking about how great the food was. Our friend Sarah made our cake, our friend Loki did Mitch’s suit, our best friend Matt MC’d, and we even managed to get a DJ who used to DJ at our favourite punk/emo club night (Hot Damn! – which is actually where we met) – it just made the whole day run so much smoother with our friends involved. And Briony who owns Yarramalong Valley Farmstay is a dream and made the day seamless.”
