For Kirby and Jared, it was a trip to the Southern Highlands for their eight year anniversary at a luxury farm stay that ended in a proposal by the fire with a glass of wine and some good tunes. “He told me to close my eyes and when I opened them he was on one knee. It was so magical and the ring blew me away (after I stopped crying enough to see it).”

With a romantic, timeless and whimsical theme in mind, this pair sought out a blank canvas venue in the Hunter Valley, Tocal Homestead. There, they fell in love with the rustic building, the Clydesdale horses and the giant fig trees and gathered up a team of awesome vendors, including The Wedding Designer, to help bring their vision to life.

“The flowers were a really important part of the theme and we had incredible forest style instillations hanging from the ceiling at the reception. We kept things fairly neutral with lots of timber & lush greenery with a pop of burgundy in the flowers as well as white and dusty pink. We wanted the vibe to really represent the both of us and wanted things to feel organic,” says the bride, whose favourite details from the day included the mac and cheese at dinner and her custom Jane Hill Bridal dress.

“I showed Jasmin at Jane Hill some photos of dresses I liked and she drew a sketch, we then looked at fabric choices and I fell in love with the beaded Italian lace my dress was made of, that was my say yes to the dress’ moment! It turned out they only had enough fabric left to make one dress so it felt like it was meant to be,” explains Kirby, who adds that reaching the end of the aisle was a standout moment for sure – and lucky for her, photographer James Frost was there to capture the magic.

“Reaching the end of the aisle was a favourite moment for me, I was so happy to reach Jared, I gave him a big hug and didn’t want to let go, it felt like this is it, we’re finally here. It was such a surreal experience. It was amazing having all our favourite people watching us and celebrating our love.”
