When the theme is “chaotic”, you might not expect everything to come together so brilliantly… but when Alex and Kieran decided to “throw together everything they thought was cute” to create their dream day, it really worked! “We just wanted a fun, beautiful day and that is exactly how it turned out!” says the bride, who adds that “everything turned out better than we could’ve imagined”.

Samantha Simone Photography captured the fun, buzzy atmosphere perfectly on the day (including some super-cute and quirky snaps in a local deli – love it!), the sweet doggos were dressed to the nines by Maxbone (with collars by Susan Alexandra to match Mum’s custom bag, amazing) and let’s all take a minute to appreciate that freakin’ phenom red Molly Goddard gown. Incredible.

THE VENUE “We wanted somewhere that wasn’t really a wedding venue – particularly as it was a surprise ‘engagement party’ wedding. Tinys was perfect for us – great food, amazing vibes and decor and plenty of room for dancing. Plus, the Tinys team were really excited by what we were planning, weren’t afraid to do things differently and were committed to the ‘chaotic’ brief.”

THE VIBE “We just wanted a fun, beautiful day and that is exactly how it turned out! All of our vendors were amazing – we planned the whole wedding in just three months and it was all a bit rushed but everything turned out better than we could’ve imagined and we can honestly say we wouldn’t have changed a thing.”

THE DRESS “Molly Goddard is one of my favourite designers – and I thought a big tulle dress would be very on-theme. I was originally chatting to the MG team about a custom white wedding dress but the timing just wasn’t going to work. I saw the pinky-red dress online and there was one left in my size so I thought it was destiny. When I got in touch with Molly Goddard to let them know we wouldn’t be needing a custom dress and I had bought one of their colourful dresses online, they asked if I knew they did custom veils in different colours and that they could have one made and sent to Australia in time. It was perfect!”

MEMORABLE MOMENTS “When you get married, you’re pretty much surrounded by heaps of people pretty much all day, so a really special moment was when it was just the two of us in the car on the way to the wedding. That was when it really ‘sank in’ – we had a moment to reflect on what was happening and share a brief moment alone before all the craziness!”

CUTE CUSTOM “Kieran’s parents got wheeled out of their wedding in a wheelbarrow 30 years ago so we continued this tradition – and the same family friends that gave them the wheelbarrow at their wedding also attended ours with the same gift, which was really sweet.”

STANDOUT VENDORS “I worked with Jo from The Cake & I to create a crazy retro wedding cake, which was just amazing. Jo really ran with the ‘maximalist’ brief – columns, glitter cherries, pink with red piping and cherubs in the middle! Natural Art Flowers were also just amazing – the flowers were nothing short of iconic and we still find ourselves swooning over the pictures of the flowers every day. Taylor was also a lifesaver both in the lead-up and on the day – nothing was a problem, she raised (and sorted) heaps of things we hadn’t even thought of and it was very helpful having someone on the day telling us what to do next as we were so overwhelmed!”
