This is the story fo a nurse and a landscaper in love, guys. “We became close very quickly. It was the typical ‘No everyone we’re not dating’ turned into everyone saying ‘we knew it!’. Next thing we know we’re two kids and ten years in!” They chose an elopement at this luxe location (organised in a week, mind you!) and featured blooms from our friends over at Petal & Fern. Photographer, Corinna & Dylan, documented the day and you can find out all about it below…

THE PROPOSAL “This is a hard one, considering we were never really ‘engaged’ in the traditional sense. We always said we would have a small wedding with our two boys when they were a bit older, but as I was bored on maternity leave (June 2020, Mid COVID), I realised I was turning 30 soon, and had no professional photos of myself, let alone with Aaron. Being heavily pregnant, I felt my youth slipping away and felt the need to preserve it into beautiful photos and what better way to do that than to get married! Eloping with two kids actually require a lot of planning (no idea why I thought otherwise) so that idea was scrapped quite quickly. It was then that I thought screw it, let’s leave the kids and elope. After all, a marriage is about us, not the kids. It took less than a week from the moment I decided this was happening to have everything booked and onto the waiting game.”

THE VENUE “When I asked Aaron where should we get married he said he knew of this beautiful property that he’s been wanting to take me, and that was Kimo estate. It’s only about a four-hour drive away which is perfect for our first true getaway from the kids, and especially as we booked during the unknowns of COVID. I immediately emailed them and asked whether they facilitated elopements – though I already knew, I mean hello Instagram! The shapes of the huts, the beautiful scenery and the hot tubs! Cute, romantic and sexy all in one! We immediately checked their availability (they are booked out almost a year in advance), chose a date and booked it in!”

FAVE DETAILS “Kat Crossley from Petal & Fern did an amazing job with the flowers! I loved them so much, and got so many compliments so I got them preserved! Her choice of flowers, the colours and the arrangements themselves were so perfect. Almost 100% sure I used the Hello May online Directory [to find her]. It really set the cute, fun but also romantic vibe. I love my dress, (I spent a total of $177 on it). I felt like an absolute queen. I think it’s unique, fun and cute. And my wedding band from Cartier – their iconic trinity ring, representing my three boys (Aaron and the two I birthed).”

MARRIAGE MEANS… “Haha I am so cynical. I think marriage is a sequence of events and days shared with a lover  challenging you to navigate the balance between the deepest love and the utmost irritation towards one another.”

LITTLE LOL “We had a good laugh in regards to having no power… I had forgotten we were staying in an eco hut, this meant they had no power points and certainly not enough power for a hairdryer. Turns out Chelsea’s parents lived nearby so her father drove up a trailer with a huge generator on it!”

STANDOUT VENDORS “I was pretty keen on Corinna & Dylan from the first email interaction, because besides Aaron I have never heard another person use the term ‘rad’ in their everyday vocabulary. They immediately made me feel relaxed and comfortable, so much so we didn’t even talk about the important photography stuff for at least the first half-hour of our call. They were professional and you immediately knew that they know their stuff, they took their time to get to know us and also teach us some photography tips in order to get the best photos! Now, these two are rad.”
