While travelling through Europe, Jason had a million and one opportunities to propose to Katrina with the ring he’d hidden between layers of clothing… but he was writing for the right moment, the one that was ‘so them’.
Finally on Katrina’s birthday, after a day full of exploring the streets of Lisbon, bars and exotic eateries, the perfect time presented itself at Taberna Da Rua Flores, a popular restaurant that the two had been dying to try.
“There was at least a 1-hour wait, but after being offered a beer we settled in a doorway along the cobblestone laneway and reflected on the day and our past 7+ years together. It was then, among the dirt and with beers in our hands, that we got engaged,” explains Katrina, the bride-to-be.
An additional surprise was a photoshoot Jason had already booked with local photographer Jesus Cabellero, who they met with a few days after they got engaged on a very hot afternoon in the Baixa district of downtown Lisbon.
The next 4 hours were filled with stories, laughter and unique locations that the lovebirds wouldn’t have experienced without Jesus guiding them and showing the way.
From drinking ginja to going off the beaten track and mingling with locals in Alfama, the old town, Katrina and Jason had a fantastic day and tell us that have the photos taken to celebrate their engagement and travels was “the cherry on top!”
