It’s fitting that Paddy chose the city of love to pop the question because he and his now-wifey, Jess, aren’t ones to shy away from romance. Their wedding was no exception. The lovers of seven years went for an unapologetically, joyfully BOLD vibe, leaning into the rich ruby retro aesthetic of their venue — we love to see it!
So many of our vendor-besties were there. The newlyweds gave a special shoutout to Love Bomb Photos, who captured the cosy occasion as well as celebrant Weddings by Sheridan. Married To The Groove brought their nostalgic tunes, and Off The Hook helped create core memories with their audio guestbook. A graphic designer by trade, Jess created the stationery, teaming up with the wonderful Stitch Press team to bring her vision to life. And can we hear it for the lewks? Paddy picked Bared Footwear to complete his ‘fit, the Man of Honour was spotted in M.J. Bale, and Jess said ‘I do’ in a gorg magenta hue. Fans of modern romance, this one’s for you; scroll on!
THE PROPOSAL “Paddy proposed to me alongside the Canal Saint Martin in Paris. We had just had dinner and were on our way to drinks when he asked me to sit with him by the canal. Neither of us remembers what we said to each other. It’s just a happy, blissful blur.”
THE VIBE “We agreed early on that we wanted the day to feel cosy, intimate and authentically us. The venue was a big inspiration with its red booths, horseshoe bar and dark timber features. I had a really strong vision for what I could do with the space. We also leaned into the cheesiness of the venue being called ‘Romantica’, which inspired our pink and red theme, decorative piped cake and retro telephone audio guestbook. We even had an ambient playlist that was full of love songs from the 60s and 70s.”
FAVE DETAILS “We honestly loved every tiny detail of the day. The flowers were breathtaking (I was very sad when they eventually died), and Bobby from Beehus Flowers did a wonderful job of incorporating some of the vintage vases I had collected especially the swan. The cake was iconic! And delicious. The most fun detail, though, was the retro telephone audio guestbook from Off The Hook. The guests had so much (maybe a little too much) fun with it, and it was a blast listening back to all of the messages.”
MEMORABLE MOMENT “We both agree that the ceremony was our favourite part of the day. We went into it blind, not knowing what each other had shared with our celebrant Sheridan or what she had written. She told our story so well, we loved every minute of it.”
WE’RE GLAD WE “… Kept it small! It felt very intimate, with a room full of our closest family and friends. It allowed us to just enjoy ourselves without having to spend the entire time saying hello and thanking each guest.”
STANDOUT VENDORS “Sheridan (celebrant) was incredible! When we met her, we instantly felt like we were best friends. She wrote an entirely custom ceremony that brought tears and laughs and encouraged our guests to clap and cheer, to be a part of the ceremony, not just witness it. Hailey (Love Bomb Photos) was also incredible. She had her work cut out for her! The venue is quite dark but she managed to light the room without any interference to the cosy vibe. And the photos turned out beautifully.”
