Issue Two sold out long ago, and we suspect that Jen and Steffen may have been the cause. Their stunning, Sydney wedding was a hot topic in the Hello May office for weeks. It killed us that we couldn’t feature all of these amazing images by Tim Coulson in print, which is why we’ve decided to share their story again with you here…
It’s a bit of an impossibility really, turning up to a wedding like Jennifer and Steffen’s full of yellow and polka dots, and not have a most spectacular time. Add views of Sydney’s stunning harbour and the perfect overdose of sunshine to the mix and you’ve got quite the day!
We expected nothing less from owner of fabulous interior lifestyle and homewares store, Have You Met Miss Jones. Pulling out all stops for her wedding to Steffen, Jennifer’s crew from her business (two other Jennifers!) pulled together a beautifully styled event that was the perfect mix of effort and effortlessness.
One of the Jennifers who helped her out says, £JJ typically has a very boyish personal style and was after a unique and simple ceremony. The only thing she insisted on was the use of succulents and she was happy! Myself and our other Jennifer sourced flowers from The Sydney Flower Market including tulips, orchids, succulents, daisies, billy buttons, jasmine, water lilies and lemons. They were arranged in vintage champagne buckets on the signing table and mason jars on the refreshment stand. The two Jennifers also made the reception napkins from Marrimekko fabric, while guests names were printed on paper and wrapped around Have You Met Miss Jones glazed bowls in yellow and blue.
For the ceremony the other Jennifers had strung up lengths of white and yellow ribbon to move in the breeze as a simple and effective backdrop. Garden stakes holding jars of daisies lined the aisles, while The Beatles’ Here Comes The Sun’ played as Jennifer walked down the aisle.
Jennifer and Steffen opted for a small wedding held on a Wednesday. £We had a small private ceremony as we wanted a day where we could really spend time with the most important people in our lives. The small ceremony also worked with our budget as it meant we could splash out on amazing food and wines. On the flip side we are also big party people so the next day we flew to Thailand and hosted a five-day celebration with 50 of our friends. Steffen is from Germany so we had a lot of people travelling from around the world. We really felt we got the most out of our budget as we had the most beautiful wedding and then an amazing time on the beach with our family and friends. We didn’t want to just have one day but wanted to stretch the celebrations out.
Later at the reception, surrounded by their select crew of loved ones, a favourite moment of the day arrived with the speeches. Jennifer says, £Steffen’s speech floored everyone as he just spoke so honestly and from the heart. Everyone was bawling and then my Mum sobbed into her napkin at the end and we all just burst out laughing at her! It captured what weddings are about pure emotion mixed with laughter and fun.
As we mentioned, Issue Two is completely sold out however Issue One, Three, Four and Five can still be purchased via our online store.
