After 17 years together, high school sweethearts Jen and Brent finally made the decision to tie the knot at Sundowner Tiona in Pacific Palms, New South Wales. Wanting to create a relaxed lawn party they set about pulling together some simple but effective options – a few beautiful bouquets by Piccolo Pear, a couple of lounge suits and a marquee where guests could find shade and enjoy an ice cold beer and some live music were enough to create a playful day for their closest family and friends.
As for their decorations, Jen tells us, “We sourced pieces of timber to make serving boards for dinner, the wooden candle holders were made by Brent, we planted succulents in tins donated from friends gardens. I made chilli jam and sugar scrub for the favours. The floral chandelier was something we had seen online so we made the base and hung flowers from the market it was very special.”
Even more special was their photographer Nina Claire who did a beautiful job of capturing their day, and of course her Rue de Seine gown. “I had seen Rue de Seine dresses in a bridal mag and couldn’t find them in Oz so my girlfriends and I booked a weekend in Auckland to check them out. It wasn’t the dress I had seen initially but it was the dress I kept on the longest and felt most beautiful in. It felt like I was floating when I put it on. It was such a lovely experience to have my best girlfriends helping me choose the dress”, says Jen who decided to shake things up and have her dad as MC. “My Dad says a speech at every wedding he attends? so I asked him to MC our wedding so he could get maximum time on the microphone he loved it!”
