Jem and Matt’s day began like any other – the sun surfaced, they got ready and then… hail! “It came down SO loud right in the middle of our ceremony that our celebrant had to stop the service as no one could hear a thing!” says Jem grateful that Shannon Fleming was able to make light of an otherwise unfortunate situation.
Despite Mother Nature’s interruption, Jem looked incredible in her custom made gown. “I am a huge fan of lace, hand-beading and detail”, says Jem of the inspiration behind her design which was brought to life by Jennifer at Zanzis Bridal Couture. Tali of Twigged Flowers also did a flawless job, creating an epic floral chandelier which hung beautifully in the centre of their marquee. “It was a piece of art in its own right and created a stunning backdrop to our ceremony”, says Jem who added her own lovely touches by way of candles, succulents and a delicious homemade cake.
Captured by the one and only CJ Williams Photography, Jem says one of the best decisions they made was having live music. “We had an incredibly talented live acoustic musician Riley Pearce who really set the scene early on in the night.” But her biggest piece of advice? “Don’t STRESS!” Even over the weather. “We can officially say that our incredible day and night saw EVERY inclement weather element – other than a tornado – possible to man. We had rain, hail and a little sunshine, in addition to thunder, lightning, wind and fire! Oh yeah, did I forget to mention, two of our guests jackets lit on fire courtesy of some of my pretty little candles (oops!)”
