After taking one look at Jacqui, you can already tell she is one stylish human, right? You just wait until you see the reception outfit! We’re in love. And so are these two. It’s been four years now and they spent two and a half of those engaged. “We didn’t plan to wait so long, but had a few hiccups (a Hawaii plan that got cancelled last minute), and ended up postponing a year. In retrospect, it was a great thing, we were able to enjoy our engagement, slowly save and not have to stress about money,” explains the bride. On the day, Lucy of She Takes Pictures He Makes Films who the couple describe as their “Ninja photographer,” was there to catch it all on camera…

THE VENUE “We had planned a Hawaii wedding but questioned our decision after the venue we had fallen for was no longer available. We decided to look for a large rental property closer to home. After weeks of searching, we came across The Houses Daylesford. It immediately felt right. All we wanted was to get away for a week with family and friends and have fun- it was everything we hoped for and more!”

FAVOURITE DETAILS “I had planned to do my own flowers (romantically thinking I would have time to pick wildflowers), but a month out I changed my mind and contacted Arnie at Flowers In A Vase. I’m so glad I did! She arranged the most gorgeous, fresh locally-picked roses for the bridal party. As a wedding gift, my brilliantly talented sister made a stunning porcelain platter with a sgraffito etching of us. It was pride-of-place on our grazing table with a special piece of honeycomb. And wearing our Camilla Gough wedding bands that had been created two years prior.”

DIY “We sourced a simple letterpress invite from Minted. and then I created envelope liners to give it more pizazz. We got a return address stamp from Woodruff & Co, wax and an ‘H’ wax seal. Set-up and styling were all done on the morning of- I had researched images of outdoor weddings for inspiration (Instagram, Hello May, Pinterest) and knew what would suit the garden. Adam and I love all things cheese and charcuterie. In the lead-up, we ordered our favourites from our local butcher, Meatsmith, and gathered all our plates and cheese knives/boards for it all to go on. At the house, we found plum, walnut and almond trees for decoration. For the guest book, we wanted the classic ‘take a Polaroid’ thing, but didn’t want to have to have people sticking and writing in a book. Instead, I found letterpress notecards from Bespoke Letterpress and had everyone write on a card and put the polaroids and card in an envelope.”

THE DRESS “I did the obligatory bridal store try on thing with my Mum, but that experience only made me even more aware that I didn’t want a ‘wedding dress’. I was never a bridey-bride girl. I randomly came across my Rochas dress online and bought it straight away. I flirted with the idea of having a veil and came across the Jennifer Behr headpiece- it was perfect. And I instantly fell head over heels for the Celine jumpsuit. Thank goodness I did, as I would have frozen in my cute little white dress!”

REFERENCES “Most of our vendors were friends with the exception of our photographer. We found Lucy of She Takes Pictures He Makes Films after I came across a photo she had taken of a bride and it was the most beautiful bridal photo I had seen. After a little research (Hello May, Instagram) on her style, we knew we wanted Lucy to be our photographer. As soon as we booked Daylesford, we contacted Lucy straight away. Adam and I are big kids, and we had so much fun with her. We were all in hysterics the whole day together, as she really made things so easy and relaxed. She is an absolute magician, and one hell of a Ninja photographer!”

The talented She Takes Pictures He Makes Films are a couple that can do photography, cinematography, or both! Check out more of their many real weddings we have featured on their directory profile, found here.
