While travelling around Europe, Izzy and Dylan’s last stop was beautiful Santorini – the ideal location for a proposal (first featured in issue 13). £He said afterwards that he was waiting for the perfect moment on the balcony overlooking the sunset over the sea but ended up popping the question while we were just laying in bed cuddling and laughing. He started smiling in a weird way, casually rolled off the bed, got up on one knee and asked the question!
Going for a vibe that reflected them as a couple, Izzy and Dylan tell us that anyone who attended their wedding would say it was exactly what Dylan and Izzy would do’. £It was romantic, relaxed, overflowing with food and drinks, so much dancing and fun! We love everything DIY and to organise a wedding 100% yourselves with the help of amazing friends and family just makes it all the more us’, explains the bride, who couldn’t deny the wedding was almost entirely DIY, from signage to the dessert table, wishing well and more.
£We’re so glad we pulled it all off in time! It was a huge task organising and doing almost everything ourselves. We were over the moon that it all worked out. We are very grateful for our supportive family, the newlyweds tell us, adding that they have their own unique (and fun) interpretation of marriage.
£Marriage to us is simply being with the person who you love the most, a bond between best friends. Living in our little beach shack with our two dogs, buying cheap takeaway, laughing every day and being creative together.
Their day was captured by the tallented duo behind Through The Woods We Ran, Izzy saying, “Glenn & Lauren are the best, we had a very strong bond with these two and they captured our day better than we could have ever imagined.”
While Izzy says that seeing Dylan cry during the ceremony was her favourite memory from the day, Dylan couldn’t help but be enamoured by Izzy walking down the aisle. £For me it was, of course, the moment I first saw my beautiful bride walking towards me. All of our closest family and friends within my reach and all there for us.
Having broken quite a few wedding traditions themselves (Izzy’s younger sister walked her down the aisle), it’s no wonder that that this pair advises others getting married to do whatever you want!’
Izzy and Dylan add, £don’t let other people try to tell you that you can’t do something or shouldn’t. This is your day, no one else’s! Enjoy every moment of it.
