The second we spotted Isabella and Michael’s delish day, snapped by the oh-so lovely Cassandra from Blossom Daisy Creative, we knew we wanted to share it right here. Stone-cold foxes Isa and Mike, as they are known to their nearest and dearest, are legit high-school sweethearts (they started dating in Year 11), even attending their deb ball together in a white dress and black suit before they’d hooked up. “We look back on it and laugh… it was our little practise run and we didn’t even know it!” they tell us. This pair stayed 100 per cent true to themselves when planning their day, and there’s nothing we love to see more. Scroll down for all the deets and stunning pics…
THE THEME “Our inspiration was classic and timeless while letting the finer details steal the show. We kept everything black, white, and red and our little cherubs were our mascot, featuring on our wedding invite, seating chart and bonbonnieres. We wanted to stay true to who we are and make sure we weren’t getting lost in the process.”
THE DRESS “I knew I wanted to wear long sleeves, but that’s all I had in mind. I had been following Tash Veenhuizen’s label, Van Der Kooij on Instagram and fell in love with her ability to keep the majority of a piece simple and let one key feature steal the show. I knew she was my gal. I reached out to her and asked if she would be willing to design a wedding dress for me as she isn’t a wedding dress maker, and to my delight, she excitingly agreed! Tash was so warm and friendly from the get-go and we worked together on ideas.
A WORD OF ADVICE “Once you love something, book it, and stop looking. It can be so overwhelming and half the time you are just being sold something you don’t even need or want! ”
MEMORABLE MOMENTS “Our first dance to Maps by the Yeah Yeah Yeahs has to be up there as a favourite moment. We kept our first dance song a surprise so when the song started it was really cute to see our bridal parties’ reactions. It’s a song close to our heart and one we listened to a lot growing up when we first started going out, so that was a really special moment. When I think back on the day, most of what I remember is just seeing everyone on the dancefloor having a good time and that makes me so happy. I am so glad everyone enjoyed themselves and it allowed me and Mike to really live in the moment. Of course, the after party with our bridal party at the Park Hyatt will be a forever favourite moment too!
STANDOUT VENDORS “Cass of Blossom Daisy Creative captured our day perfectly, especially with the inclusion of film photography. She met with us multiple times before the big day to make sure she knew exactly what we wanted and that we felt comfortable. Michael knew he wanted some super8 footage of our wedding day so when we found Lachy Films we knew we were in for a good time. Even though they had never worked together, Cass and Lachy gelled so well on the day and made us feel so comfortable in front of the camera. We had lots of laughs!”
