When it came to featuring this wedding, we were on board from the moment we heard about the proposal, and even more excited to discover that photographer Christine Lim was the one to capture all the action.
“Josh proposed while walking along the Highline in NYC with a handmade cardboard ring. The rest of our holiday was spent making sure I didn’t take the ring off with my gloves and leave it inside a cab? which only happened once”, says Hayley who kept their styling at Venn Gallery simple – a hint of greenery against an otherwise industrial space… “a nod to the Highline in New York City.”
“…we opted for a casual cocktail reception, we wanted our guests to feel as though they were in a hip bar and knew everyone else there!” says Hayley who wore a stunning two piece gown by Mira Zwillinger and feather hair piece by Kristi Bonnici. “Having seen Roxie by Mira Zwillinger on a tiny Instagram post, I fell in love with the loose fitting top and the delicacy of the lace. I also adored that it was a two-piece. I ordered the gown through Helen Rodrigues in Sydney without trying it on, but knowing (ok, hoping) it would all work out. There are so many bridal styles that I love, I incorporated a range of them! A romantic dress, a boho feather crown, mod makeup with winged eyes and hot pink lips? I confess that I didn’t try all of it on together until the day of my wedding. I wanted to be as surprised as everyone else!“
But the best part? “For most of the night, every single guest was on the dance floor. I remember looking around at my dad fist pumping to Eminem, my Mum twerking to Madonna and the young ones singing all eight minutes of American Pie. Pure fun.“
