Say hello to Harriette, guys. She’s a high school teacher by day, part bridal gown designer by night! Seriously, along with help from “an amazing dress maker” Stacey of Popovski, she sourced the material and designed her “perfect” dress. The couple have been together for 14 years, had a fun-filled wedding at Rupert on Rupert (the same venue where we held our Planner & Notebook launch), with entertainment by our friends at Lark Music and stunning wedding rings by Cushla Whiting. It was even photographed by one of our faves, I Got You Babe. Talk about dream team! Scroll down for all the details…

THE VENUE “We had people coming form every part of Australia and overseas for the wedding, so we decided straight away it needed to be in Melbourne. It was also essential that we had really good food and wine and something a little different. When we lived in Richmond we spent a lot of time at Rupert on Rupert, so we spoke about them, not realising that they even did weddings! When we  spoke to Mali from Rupert’s, we knew we were done looking.”

FAVOURITE DETAILS “The flowers were INCREDIBLE. We were in awe of what Petra did, it blew our minds. Also, the balloons and table tennis table- they added an element of fun! It really worked in the space too. We had the front room with the flowers for all the formalities (and the dancing), and the back room with the balloons and table tennis for some fun!”

THE DRESS “I went dress shopping with my bridesmaid, my mum and my mother-in-law. It was hilarious and just so not me. I wanted something different and unusual, so I found some material I loved and decided to work with an amazing dress maker in Brunswick. I had an idea in mind that mum and I had come up with together. Stacey of Popovski took it and ran with it. I changed it about six times and eventually went back to the original- thank goodness for her patience. In the end, Stacey nailed it and was incredible at dealing with my craziness, and I wouldn’t have had it any other way. The dress was perfect!”

REFERENCES “The venue gave us the name of our photographer, Lilli, of I Got You Babe. and she recommended Pomp and Splendour. Other than that, Hello May! There was a heap of Instagram, we bought the magazines, and went on the blog to look at other weddings. We really wanted the day to be uniquely us, but it certainly helped to have all that amazing inspiration from other weddings and how other people set things up!”

STANDOUT VENDORSRupert on Rupert were incredible- in the lead up, on the day and post wedding. Mali answered every silly question, the waiters on the night were there every single time I turned around and were so lovely- it made me so happy. Our celebrant Sophie, who was such a calming presence and created a ceremony that was so very ‘us’. Our florist, Petra from Pomp and Splendour, who knew exactly what we were after, and then exceeded it. And our photographer, Lilli. We are super awkward, but what she managed to create was beyond anything we expected. She was patient and then seemed to disappear into the background and create magic.”
