GEORGIA & TOM’S QUEENSLAND WEDDING

Georgia and Tom’s romantic DIY wedding is really gonna warm your heart! The pair of 12 years (and parents-to-be!) exchanged their vows among vineyards in Queensland’s charming town of Tamborine. The vibe was “casual elegance,” with the couple explaining they wanted each element to be “timeless” without feeling “too stiff”.

The bride and groom were serving sophistication (always love to see our friends Bec + Bridge in the wedding party), while Tropical Romance & Co. fittingly encapsulated the day’s classic energy by capturing all the mems on film. Goodness galore below; get on it!

THE VENUE “Albert River Wines was probably the fourth venue we visited around the Mount Tamborine area, and from the moment we entered the front gates, it just felt right. It was so beautiful but didn’t feel too groomed or pretentious, and the staff were so lovely and down to earth. It really felt like us.”

DIY “To save money, pretty much all the styling aspects were DIY. The flowers were another big DIY project. I spent the weeks before the wedding researching what would be in bloom and how to create each floral arrangement. Then, with the help of my mum and bridal party, we spent the days before creating each floral arrangement. It turned out to be such an amazing experience.”

MEMORABLE MOMENT “The ceremony itself turned out to be such a highlight, which is surprising, as it was probably the thing Tom and I were most unsure about. We were nervous about having all the attention on us and feeling too formal. However, with the help of our amazing celebrant Jake we were constantly laughing and crying at the same time.”

LITTLE LOL “Tom and I had to re-do our first kiss as, at the last minute, he decided to try and dip me. However, it turned into him somewhat head-butting me. We and all our family and friends could not stop laughing.”

A WORD OF ADVICE “If you want to save money, figure out your strengths and weaknesses and only tackle DIY projects that you feel somewhat confident you can pull off. As I work in design, I knew I would enjoy and be able to achieve the style I wanted with the help of my friends and family. The money I saved from styling I put towards getting a great hair and makeup team as I knew this was something I needed help with.”

WE’RE GLAD WE “… followed a traditional wedding day format – getting ready apart with our bridal party, walking down the aisle, doing a first dance… It’s all things we were unsure about as we wanted to keep things somewhat informal, but it ended up making the day so exciting and magical.”

STANDOUT VENDORS “Gosh, we really hit the jackpot with amazing vendors. My makeup artist (Lilly Rathie) and hairstylist (Isabella Jane) made the morning with my bridal party so relaxed and stress-free as they were so efficient and lovely to be around. Our celebrant, Jake, completely nailed the vibe we wanted for the ceremony. And our talented photographer Konrad (Tropical Romance & Co.) so beautifully captured every special moment from the day – listening to our vision and creating an atmosphere where we felt completely comfortable in front of the camera.”
