Proposals don’t necessarily have to be super extravagant to ignite all the feels. Just ask Eduardo, who casually popped the question over a romantic meal of (wait for it!) cheap burgers. “He put an onion ring around my finger and we decided to get married!” says Florencia.
Spanish natives who currently live in Boston (USA), this pair decided that a destination wedding at Palacio de Hoyuelos was the way to go. “This was the first venue that we went to see and we didn’t need to look at any other ones, we fell in love with it!”
“I wouldn’t say we had a theme but we did go for a specific vibe: we wanted everything to be easy going, relaxed, and just fun,” explains Florencia, who sought out styling help from Elisabeth Blumen. Going for a day that was cool, calm and casual, these two opted for no dress code protocol, a warm colour scheme and wild flower arrangements.
Captured by Leafhopper Weddings, Florencia and Eduardo sourced much of their rustic decor from Etsy, though the bride, a graphic designer, took on quite a bit of DIY herself. Menus, the seating plan, the guestbook and more were all a result of Florencia’s labour of love.
“I absolutely loved doing all this! I’m very passionate about my job and getting to be my own client was awesome,” she explains, though she admits the cakes (yes, multiple) by Samantha de Espaûña were her favourite detail from the day.
“Me and my husband are crazy about chocolate so we decided to have a big desserts table with 10 different cakes. Nutella cake, carrot cake, raspberry cake? SO MANY CAKES!! People absolutely loved that and so did we (chocolate forever!!).”
