Fiona & Andrew settled on a short lead-time of 12 weeks for their wedding day, which they promise was one of the best calls. Things went off without a hitch, despite the page boy collecting his own sticks as a bouquet on the way down the aisle (which only added to the sweetness, of course). We’ve got all their advice and plenty of snaps from Evan Bailey to enjoy below…
THE VENUE “We wanted somewhere that was relaxed and flexible with their package. Then as soon as we met Ashleigh, the events manager at Lake Breeze Wines, we knew we were in good hands. Everything was so easy – the service was fantastic”
FAVOURITE DETAILS “We opted not to have a cake as that tradition wasn’t suited to us and instead we had chocolate brownies for everyone. Instead of favours for guests to take home, we made a donation to Beyond Blue and left a note for guests on their menus. [We also] loved our simple white rose bouquets and simple white flower bud vases on tables that allowed the venue to shine!”
LITTLE LOL “Andrew tried to help with the preparations by accidentally posting a stack of invites with no addresses! A few days later I received a call from Australia Post wondering what to do with them all!”
THE DRESS “Planning a wedding in 12 weeks meant I needed to find somewhere that could make a dress quickly. After visiting a few dress shops, I realised my best bet was to have something made for me. Caleche made the process too easy and worked around the timeline of our wedding.”
FAVOURITE MOMENT “Our favourite moment was the ceremony. Looking out and seeing all of our friends and family who had travelled from right across Australia to be with us was really special. Our celebrant was also a good friend which meant the service was even more special.”
A WORD OF ADVICE “With COVID restrictions so unknown we would suggest a shorter lead time if you can. We planned our wedding quickly, and we were lucky that it went ahead as planned, but we were ready to cancel or move to Plan B, C or D at the last minute. We went into it knowing that we may have to adapt quickly!”
Fancy taking a squiz at a few more South Australian weddings. Check out Mel & Alec’s wedding here and Porcha & Mark’s big day right here. But first…
