It’s always a pleasure to see how marriage and all it encompasses is interpreted by couples, and for Felicia and Simon, their take on the whole ‘marriage’ thing was a little different than some.

Having been together since 2001, and with three beautiful children between them, the pair celebrated their ten year anniversary by jointly designing rings with the talented Camilla Gough. Despite this, Felicia explains that the couple never quite considered themselves engaged, “He asked me to marry him on our ten year anniversary, with the caveat that it didn’t mean we needed to get married.”

As far as the wedding planning went, the bride explained that it happened in a rather unexpected way.

“We realised that in our culture, we only come together for funerals and rarely for the good stuff. Our relationship is without a doubt the best thing in our lives and that is worth celebrating. The vibe was simply to celebrate the everyday marvellousness of this good thing we already had.”

The couple agreed that one of their favourite details of the day was having their kids involved “I’m also chuffed that we waited till our kids were old enough to participate. That made it really special.” Felicia even made their outfits for the day, being the crafty creator of The Craft Sessions.

As for the beautiful photography, the pair agreed that Ash from Stories By Ash was a total pro to work with. “Neither of us likes having our photo taken and she made the whole thing easy and not confronting.”

With the help of some fabulous vendors, such as Gina from Georgie Boy Floral studio, Felicia and Simon chose to keep things simple, focusing more on the vibe and good times rather than the details; the pair adding this piece of advice for future wed-ers, “Keep it simple! It’s so much more fun if there isn’t any stress. You can simply just enjoy the day!”
