When a wedding planner ties the knot, the results are almost always spectacular. Emma, owner of Wild Heart Weddings and one of the talented lasses behind Queensland’s A Darling Affair, was no exception. Their day, inspired by “fun, music, colour and camping”, was a weekend-long event that ticked all the right boxes. “There seem to be three main things that people are still talking about from our wedding… The band, the port, and the flowers” says Emma.
Determined to dance to the beat of their own drum, Emma tells us “I’ve seen a LOT of white weddings before (and don’t get me wrong, they are stunning) but we are not white wedding people. We just wanted good music, good friends, lots of colour and lots of fun.” Ginger, Lily and Rose, Willow Bud Wedding Flowers joined forces to bring Emma and Riley’s dream day to life with an assortment of candy-coloured flowers and the talented folk from Simply Style Co handled all of the styling (“A mammoth task” says Emma) incorporating beautiful old wine barrels from Brisbane Barrel Hire.
Their day, captured by When Elephant Met Zebra, was definitely a DIY affair. Emma’s sister was their celebrant and Riley’s dad made their three-tier cake stand. “Riley made our table runners out of recycled timber floor boards. They looked so great on the day…”, says Emma, later recalling how her maid of honour spent the last part of the night doing her best air guitar on the tables.
