If you’re trying to plan the ultimate proposal, seek some advice from Martin, a true pro. After booking a weekend away with Emily, Martin surprised her with a gorgeous picnic, a vintage ring and – wait for it – a helicopter ride!
“We were whisked away for lunch followed by visits to wineries and a Sunset ride back to the cottage. The next morning I woke up cursing that we had to get back to Sydney that day, wishing for just one more day’. Martin turned to me, eyebrows raised and said ‘well ?’ he had booked a day off work for the two of us and an extra night away. One of the best weekends of our lives.”
After their totally epic proposal, Emily started in on the Google research, narrowing it down to three potential venues. “Wombat Hollow was one of them and as soon as we arrived there we just knew that was going to be the place. Rustic, authentic and certainly not a wedding factory’ type venue. It was exactly what we were after,” explains the bride, who looked flawless in her Bride La Boheme head piece and Claire Pettibone gown.
With an awesome team of vendors included in their day (like Grew & Co, Duck Duck Goose Catering and Flowers By Emma), the day focused on heaps of flowers, great food and a tonne of blankets for snuggling up by the fire, creating an especially lovely vibe, captured by photographer Mitch Pohl, who the couple found via Instagram.
Now that their big day is over, Emily and Martin say they’ve learned a lot, leaving this piece of advice for other pairs soon to be married: “Create a project plan. Don’t be over-ruled by other peoples opinions on what THEY think you should be doing. Do little bits over a longer period and don’t leave everything to the last minute (because you’ll be busy enough as it is!). Have ideas on a wet weather plan just in case! We ALMOST had to use ours.”
