Like everything organic, being in love is just better for you. Or so they say. Most of you would have fallen for Emily and Grant while reading Issue four of Hello May – we certainly did, and so we’ve decided to share their story again with you here. As always, photographer Eric Ronald has given us something quite special. Happy days!
It was inevitable that Emily and Grant would wind up having a small wedding in the lush greenery of Mt Buffalo after falling in love with a small church there when they first began dating. Emily says, £We both knew from day dot we wanted an intimate celebration with our closest family and friends. Our wedding was based around the church we both fell in love with on a Sunday drive when we were first dating. The Little Chapel in Eurobin sits under Mt Buffalo surrounded by an abundance of greenery and flora. We both love the outdoors, starry nights under an open sky and the high country. It was a no brainer.
Braving any potential elements, they intended for the whole day to be outside. £We wanted to flow the relaxed garden party vibe from the ceremony right through to the reception. It was important to us to hold the reception outside under the night sky (even though it was a little cold). The views from Boynton’s Feathertop were spectacular at sunset.
Meanwhile this meant plenty of stunning spots for snaps with photographer Eric Ronald. He said, £It was a privilege being able to shoot around the chapel and surrounding gardens which was meticulously kept by a sweet older couple.
As a stylist, Emily took the wedding prep in her stride, becoming one rather organised bride! £I was lucky enough to be studying full time at home the year before the wedding. This allowed me to spend a good part of my days searching blogs and gathering ideas about what I wanted early. We pretty much had everything booked two months after the engagement (including invitations by the fabulous Lady B Paperie) It wasn’t a stressful process for me. I thoroughly enjoyed every moment that came with planning a wedding, and the lead up. I’d do it again if I could!
With the breathtaking background setting the scene, Emily experimented with clashing colours and textures. £I used lots of prints and textures like Kraft paper, geometric prints, neon colours, white, polka dots, palm trees, pineapples and different coloured and textured wooden vintage chairs. The colour palette was mostly pink, gold and emerald.
Emily and Grant took on some of the crafty DIY tasks for decorations, while their talented mothers got busy in the kitchen making antipasto picnic platters and jams and chutneys for favours.
Both Emily and Grant iterated the same important piece of advice; £Relax! Don’t be afraid to ask family and friends to help, says Grant. £If you can afford it, pay for somebody to set up. It is your day after all.
