Couples who love colour have come to the right place with this wedding, folks. Ellie and Dane love Mexican, made it their theme and basically brought it all together themselves- from the flowers, to the catering and much, much more! Dane even rode down the aisle on his Harley Davidson motorbike, complete with a burnout at the end, so it’s safe to say they are lots of fun, too. HM Directory Vendor, Ephemeral Creative, was there to get it all on camera, and we are oh so grateful. Scroll down for all the deets…

THE VENUE “The ceremony was held where we got engaged and the reception was held at my mum and step dad’s house. They own a bed and breakfast in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland and my step dad built an old rustic barn from local recycled timbers and old rusty iron.”

THE THEME “Both of us absolutely love Mexican food and the bohemian look. So we decided to do a Mexican Boho theme. We were also on holidays at Kingscliffe and Ellie spotted a buffalo skull in the window and fell in love with it immediately. And what’s a mexican party without a pinata?”

DIY “Everything was DIY! The Mexican bunting hanging from the roof (using food dye with paper doiles. Painting the rug we stood on. Doing our own flowers and hair. All our own food. Sewing all of the Mexican cushions and table cloths. We made our own pinata and thousands of hours making our own confetti and painting all our own signs. Making our own peg board for the donuts. Sewing the bow ties. Pretty much everything!”

THE DRESS “My aunty is a professional dress maker so my mum, sister and I went dress shopping one day with her. We found nothing that I fell in love with and feeling a little deflated we went to lunch. Here, my aunty got a scrap piece of paper out of her bag and started scribbling. Within about 30 seconds she had every single detail of the dress that I had ever imagined. We then decided for her to make it. Coming from a dancing background I wanted something I could dance in. This is why we decided on lace shorts to be worn after the ceremony. I was so in love with my dress and shorts.”

CUTE CUSTOM “We both have Scottish in us, so we decided to do a Scottish tradition where one person holds a stone while the other is reading their vows. This means that your vows will forever be set in stone. We have since had our names and wedding date engraved into the stone.”

A WORD OF ADVICE “Choose your photographer wisely, someone who will be able to capture everything you love about each other. Trent and Jessie (of Ephemeral Creative) did exactly this. If you want something done or something special on your day, just do it- you will regret it if you don’t later.”

STANDOUT VENDORS “Jo from Big Love Weddings. We could not recommend her enough. She is an absolute blessing to this earth! After she married my sister a couple of years earlier we knew we wanted her for our day. Her main focus for our day  was for everything to be what we wanted. It was even her crazy idea for Dane to ride a Harley down the aisle. Also our photographers Trent and Jessie (of Ephemeral Creative). These guys made every effort to capture everything we love. They were able to capture moments that we will never forget.”
