Soulmates Elise and Lynny both wanted to experience proposing and being proposed to. But it was Elise, motivated by a self-confessed competitive streak, who was first to pop the question. “I took the chance to propose to Lynny while visiting Thailand. While Lynny is an Aussie, her Thai-Japanese heritage was one quality that hooked me during our early days dating, so to be able to create a connection in Thailand was important.” Lynny asked for Elise’s hand not long after, and the pair celebrated their union with a joyful day centred around “three cultures coming together as one”.

The brides’ chic-as frocks were the first they tried (score), and the details were equally divine, including Bared Footwear and bling from Black Finch Jewellery. Elise and Lynny “absolutely adore every single photo from Dee,” aka Finder Seeker Photography, and so do we! Dive into their loved-up day below.

THE VENUE “We both wanted a venue that was intimate, expressed both of us well and did epic food. Aunty Kim’s was the first venue we walked into, and we knew at that minute that it was the exact place for us! It was also in Collingwood, a suburb where we’ve spent many dates. It also happens to be Lynny’s footy team!”

MEMORABLE MOMENT “I (Elise) do not dance. That is what our guests thought anyway. Months before getting married, I convinced Lynny we should do an epic couple dance. Lynny wasn’t so convinced and said she would only do it if it was choreographed by her friend Laura. A short message to Laura, and she was in! We spent months practising under the expert guidance of Laura, who taught us the most wicked Beyonce moves. We not only had a fun and very well-coordinated couples dance, we also had our sisters and Laura join us for a flash dash, which kickstarted the d-floor!”

TALK ABOUT TRADITION “The Thai Mongkron was a Thai blessing that Lynny’s mum curated with us, which also involved my mum. The blessing was shared in Thai and then translated into English while both our mums, representing the strength of our families, tied a yellow string onto our wrists and placed interconnected headdresses on top of our heads. This was followed by key friends and family tying yellow strings around our wrists. This was our ‘ceremony’ and our way to connect our cultures while symbolising the marriage between ourselves.”

LITTLE LOL “We actually drove to our own wedding, and as we arrived back at the car, we noticed a parking ticket on the windscreen. We ripped it off, laughed and said, ‘Best parking ticket!’ Although Lynny also happened to get a parking ticket as she went to collect my engagement ring!! Seems to be a consistent theme here…”

WE’RE GLAD WE… “We eloped days beforehand to avoid having the legal ceremony on the day of our wedding party – this avoided so much stress and enabled us to be so in the moment.”

STANDOUT VENDOR “Cannot use enough words to describe how amazing Dee from Finder Seeker Photography is! We were both a little nervous about getting photography done, but we already knew from our comms and our engagement shoot just how awesome and easygoing Dee was. She cared about all the little details while never showing any stress or concern. We absolutely adore every single photo from Dee, and they enable us to re-live and admire each moment of our magical day. The coolest part is our besties also engaged Dee for their wedding a few months later, and nothing beats being able to share your photographer with your best friends!”
