Nella proposed on his birthday on Stockton Sand Dunes at sunset and Eilish says, “It feels like we just met, but also like we’ve known each other forever.” They are sweeties, no? And while being keen on a destination wedding originally, thanks to their budget and also that thing called COVID, the couple had to make the call to do something different. They worked closely with Emily (from the epic Elope) and we couldn’t wait to see more. If you’re the same, scroll down for all the juicy pics by none other than Beck Rocchi Photography

THE VENUE “I watched a virtual viewing on Instagram with Emily from Elope and Billie from Byron View Farm when we were in the peak of COVID and there were no venues open for viewings. They shot the viewing at sunset and I was absolutely obsessed! The venue was a perfect combination of the lush hinterland with stunning views of the Byron coastline.”

THE INSPO “We always wanted a destination wedding but we knew it wasn’t possible with our budget, and of course Covid, so instead we worked with Emily to try to create a vibe that made our guests feel like we’d escaped to a fairytale in the hills of Tuscany or somewhere in the south of France. I was very inspired by Pinterest and every Disney princess movie I’ve ever seen.”

FAVE DETAILS “Nature really worked with us to make our day feel like a fairytale. It was forecast to storm but we were blessed to have the storm clear just before the ceremony and it left behind beautiful big clouds for our ceremony, a stunning sunset during our photo session and the moon rising over the ocean throughout our reception. The weather provided the perfect backdrop to bring our dream wedding to life. [Also], the cake! I loved it not only because it was delicious and looked pretty, but also because of the genuine love and care that went into making it.”

MEMORABLE MOMENT “Firstly walking down the aisle with my Dad was really special because I wasn’t sure my Dad would make it on the day due to the Queensland border being closed. (We were so lucky to have the borders open for Queenslanders to travel as far as Byron Bay from 1 AM on the day of our wedding). It was also such an honour for me to perform a Tongan Tau’olunga alongside Nella’s sisters and a Samoan Taualuga to acknowledge both our cultural backgrounds. The last week in the lead up to our wedding was full of last-minute dance practices for both Nella and I. Nella performed a hilarious and fun dance with his best mates which I think stole the show!”

WE’RE GLAD WE… “I am SO glad we risked an outdoor wedding – especially with a storm forecast. I’ve never been so emotionally triggered by the little lighting emoji on the weather app, but we made the call to go ahead with an outdoor wedding anyway and I couldn’t be happier that we made that decision.”

STANDOUT VENDORS “Emily from Elope was super helpful in the lead up; she was full of advice and was so understanding through all the Covid messiness. Our on the day coordinator was so lovely and great at making sure everyone stayed calm. We also absolutely LOVED having Beck Rocchi Photography! We were so relaxed and had so much fun with her and Marty from Yellowbull Weddings. Nella and I can both be a little awkward in front of the camera usually, so for Beck and Marty to capture so many stunning photos and video of us looking really happy and relaxed was awesome. All our guests raved about how great our Beck and Marty were on the day!

Eilish and Nella’s delish wedding was originally published in Issue 31 of Hello May magazine. If you are keen to snag a copy, head on over to our online store here. Also, if you’re considering Eloping, it’s pretty clear from this couple’s rave reviews, that Elope is worthy of a second (and third and fourth) look. But first…
