Shannon proposed to Edwina in Africa, where they had been living and working for the past three years. Edwina tells us £the proposal it self was at sunset on top of a hill looking up at Mt Kilimanjaro where the lovely lodge people had set up a private bar for us so we could sip gin and tonics while watching the sunset. But in a very communal Kenyan fashion the 3 Maasai guides with us didn’t make themselves scarce, even though in on the secret, but instead lingered nearby chatting’. Proposals are obviously great spectator sport because as soon as I said yes they all started clapping and jumping up and down!
Back in Australia they set about planning their day of good times at Minimbah Farm, a 150 acre beef cattle property in the beautiful Kangaroo Valley. Of the day Edwina says £The inspiration for the wedding theme was what we were calling a kind of run down library, lots of antique books and brass ornaments and the entire floor of the marquee covered in Persian rugs. I didn’t want to go down the traditional white on white look but I did want something that felt luxurious in its own way.
Photographed by the insanely talented and super lovely Kelly Tunney, Edwina looked amazing in her Carla Zampatti gown, a dress she found whilst shopping for DVD’s in David Jones! Edwina explains £It took me about 25 minutes from seeing it on a hanger to trying it on to buying it! People hear that and think I must have been really relaxed about my dress but actually I was totally obsessed! I had ruthlessly scoured the internet for months looking for inspiration so when I saw this one I knew it was the right one straight away.
