These two teachers were simply after a relaxed, laid back wedding. And by the sounds of it, that’s exactly what they got. Happy to ditch all the wedding traditions and do things their way worked out pretty darn well, we think! Lens lady Amy Skinner got all the good times on camera for us, so scroll down to see more…
THE VENUE “We knew right from the outset that we wanted something super simple and laid back. Our favourite weddings we have attended have been cocktail style, so we knew that was the style for us. Guildhall was the third and final venue we saw. As soon as we walked in and met with Amelia (the event planner), and saw the beautiful interior of Guildhall we knew we just had to get married there.”
THE VIBE “We had no theme for the wedding, we just knew that we wanted everything to be super low key and relaxed. We weren’t a fan of all the usual wedding traditions so we just cut them all out! We had a super quick ceremony and then it was all about celebrating with family and friends for the rest of the night.”
FAVE DETAILS “One of our favourite details of the day were the stunning flowers. Signature Floral Design absolutely blew us away. The colours looked amazing in the venue – they were extraordinary and just looked so beautiful. Another amazing part of the day was the duo who played at the reception, Jack and Sofia. They are 16 year olds from Dunsborough and the kids of a family friend. Our wedding was their first official gig as a duo and they did a phenomenal job.”
THE DRESS “I had been wedding dress shopping with a friend in London a couple of years prior to our engagement and as fun as it was with friends, I just knew it was not for me! I do not enjoy being the centre of attention and wearing big fancy dresses. I was quite hesitant about looking for a dress and I didn’t even know where to start. My mum asked me if she would like her to reach out to an old family friend, Karen Geraghty, who made both my Mum’s and my aunty’s wedding dresses almost 30 years ago. It was elegant and timeless – everything I was hoping for.”
A WORD OF ADVICE “Keep it simple, be relaxed and be flexible! We both honestly had the best day. I think we can attribute this to the fact that both of us were super easy going about our expectations for the day. Neither of us had a perfect vision of how they day should go. We knew that we had chosen vendors we trusted and that our closest family and friends would be there to celebrate with us. What more can you ask for!”
WE’RE GLAD WE… “Daryl and I stayed together on the night before the wedding. We also had a ‘first look’ and another great decision we made was not to have a bridal party. We love our friends and they were involved in a number of different ways, but again this helped us keep the day simple and the cost down!”
STANDOUT VENDORS “Amy Skinner, our photographer, absolutely went above and beyond for us on the day and in the days afterwards. We had such an amazing time with her. She made us feel relaxed and got some beautiful photos that we will treasure forever. We were absolutely blown away and incredibly grateful when a beautifully packaged USB of all our photos arrived on our doorstep only just over a week after our wedding. We also loved working with Annaliese from Signature Floral Design and Guildhall were absolutely amazing.”
