As Dannii and Jonny strolled through tree-lined canals and onto the Pont des Amours (translation: The Bridge Of Love) one crisp French morning, this bride was none the wiser that her ‘hopeless romantic’ hubs-to-be was about to get down on one knee. That’s some Prince Charming-level proposing, Jonny!
If you thought their engagement was the stuff of storybooks, just wait ‘till you see Dannii and Jonny’s wedding! Lush foliage as far as the eye can see, The Terrace, nestled in Melbourne’s Royal Botanical Gardens, lent itself perfectly to the lovebird’s vision – a timeless garden party with a retro ‘60s twist.
Singing the praises of their epic vendor crew, the couple of 20 years describe Elsa Campbell as “the perfect photographer” and share with us that having their kids involved in the big day was a “dream come true.” Consider our heartstrings tugged! Botanical betrothal inspo by the bouquet load below, friends!
THE VIBE “We really wanted to have a relaxed picnic/garden type wedding that represented who we are – easygoing, relaxed and fun.”
FAVE DETAILS “The flowers which highlighted we were surrounded by nature; the amazing musician, Glen Wee who we had playing after we got married and covered some of our favourite songs in his style. Lastly, The Terrace food was delicious, and everyone agreed. We had lots of comments about how great the service was.
MEMORABLE MOMENT “Seeing our kids involved in the wedding was amazing. Having them involved was a dream come true.”
THE DRESS “I always knew I wanted to wear a short dress that was ’60s-inspired, so the journey started with spending lots of nights on Pinterest, then doing research and discussing with friends and clients about where they had gotten their wedding dresses made. The overall experience [was] nerve-racking because it didn’t come together until the very last fit, and even then, I was still unsure. But on the wedding day, it was very obvious to myself and everyone who attended that it was exactly ‘me’.
A WORD OF ADVICE “Don’t sweat over the small stuff. The day goes so fast, so take some time to soak it all in. And don’t expect your schedule to run on time. Expect that everything will be slightly late, and there’s nothing wrong with that.”
STANDOUT VENDORS “We loved Elsa, our photographer! She set the pace of the wedding and really put us at ease from the start of the day and all the way through to the end. Jonny hates being photographed and being told to smile but he never had that feeling the whole day. Elsa was flexible and happy to take photos of family and friends as requested. All whilst being in her third trimester of pregnancy! And we loved Paul, our celebrant! He’s a funny guy, and because he took the time to get to know us and weave our story into the ceremony, all our friends thought he was a mate who wedded us. The ceremony really set the tone for the wedding!”
