Daniel and Shannon’s love story is some real rom-com stuff. A bar based on New Zealand’s ski slopes is where we set the scene. Daniel was about to call it a night when he spotted one striking brunette across the room. Suddenly, he felt compelled to stick around. After cutting some shapes on the d-floor and sharing a sneaky smooch, the duo discover that, back home in Sydney, they live just a few streets away from each other. You can’t make this up, folks!
During that whirlwind of a night, they lost track of each other but fate would reunite them once back in Oz. We’re grateful it did because now we get to gush over their classy AF wedding day captured by the one-and-only Zoë Morley Photography. The newlyweds were red-carpet ready, with Shannon in a sleek off-the-shoulder and Daniel sporting M.J. Bale. THE VENUE “We loved the architecture [at Three Blue Ducks], the possible photoshoot locations, and its delicious hearty food and wine offering. Having the ability to host both the ceremony and the reception was a real bonus. Having all of these items ticked meant planning was kept simple, which, for our busy lives, made it a hell of a lot easier.”
THE VIBE “The theme was black tie. We wanted a simple pallet of only white flowers with green foliage, and the photographs speak for themselves. The class of black tie with simple decorations really appealed to us.”
FAVE DETAILS “Our good friend Georgia works for Buds and Bowers. She did the most amazing flower arrangements. She went over and above for us, and we couldn’t fault her. The magnificent ceremony flowers could be separated into modular sections and used again in the reception. They really made the space feel alive with beauty.”
MEMORABLE MOMENT “Our favourite bit was hearing each other’s vows. We did ours in secret, and to hear them for the first time on the day was really special. Our vows were a mixture of beauty and humour, which is how I would describe our whole ceremony. It was not too serious, just the right mixture. A close second is simply having all our loved ones there in the same place to witness us confess our love for one another and our commitment to each other. It’s very surreal.”
WE’RE GLAD WE… “We extended the time between the ceremony and the reception. To have that little bit more time to allow for family photos as well as some time to ourselves really meant we weren’t too rushed. In all honesty, we could have added even more time.”
