Both in hospitality, this self-confessed, “fun-loving” couple admit their love for their industry, “food, wine and people,” influenced their big day in a big way. Then there’s the hot pink wedding dress and gold sequinned number the bride changed into for the reception and a solid list of some of our favourite vendors (say hi It’s Beautiful Here, Bloom Boy, Torte by Mirjana and Oscar Hunt Tailors) and it’s safe to say this was one heck of a wedding. Scroll down for all the pics and details to boot!

THE VENUEThe Everleigh is where we had our first date, the staff are an extension of our family, the drinks and service are always on point and we find ourselves there multiple times a week. It was the first decision we made when it came to the day, and shaped our overall vibe. Both working in bars we knew that we wanted our drinks list to reflect our personalities and taste. We worked with the team at the Everleigh to create a list of 9 cocktails. Each drink was chosen to reflect us as a couple and balance the menu with different styles and a few sentimental drinks.”

THE VIBE “We wanted the day to be a reflection of the things and people we love. For us, it was about having a big party, drinking and eating our favourites and infusing our fun-loving selves into every detail.”

FAVOURITE DETAILS… “The cake from Torte by Mirjana was next-level. Guests still tell us it was the best wedding cake they’ve ever had. It looked sensational and tasted amazing. Ross, from Bloom Boy blew our minds when it came to flowers. Our first inkling of how incredible they would be was my bouquet and Mark’s boutonniere, but walking into the Everleigh was another experience completely. The installation was so joyful and perfectly complimented all of the other elements. Ross embraced our red and pink colour clashing theme wholeheartedly and made the day so magical. The “Mark loves Coco” hand-painted, mirror signage from Mikey Ting was a huge highlight of the day and was commented on by all of our guests.”

DIY… “The most substantial DIY project we did for the day was creating our ‘guilty pleasures’ playlist. We decided against having a DJ as we had a live jazz band, The Shuffle Club, for the first half of the reception. Music is a love of ours so we decided to create a playlist of all the songs we wanted to hear and dance to in the later hours of the night.”

THE DRESS “I had initially planned on something a tiny bit more traditional, well… white at least. Sharon Tate and Priscilla Presley were my initial reference points as well as stylist Lolita Jacobs’ wedding. When I saw the Rotate dress walk the runway at Copenhagen fashion week it stuck in my head, after trying on a heap of little white dresses (over four months worth!) and nothing being right, I decided to be bold and go for the hot pink, I’m so happy I did!”

WE’RE GLAD WE… “Focused on our reception. We also keep saying we are so happy that we didn’t try and have a formal meal at our wedding, as it just would have stopped the party vibes! We had a large grazing table of cheese, charcuterie and small hors d’oeuvres and oysters roaming around at the reception. We over catered, but that’s never a bad thing after hours on the dance floor.”

STANDOUT VENDORS… “Our amazing photographers, It’s Beautiful Here! Kat and Scout were phenomenal from our first meeting and throughout the whole experience. The photos from the day are something we will cherish for the rest of our lives, they managed to capture every moment in a way that felt uniquely us and definitely know how to have a good time on the dance floor! Ross, the owner of Bloom Boy did such an exceptional job. He blew our minds, the flowers were even better than we could have imagined. The Everleigh was also incredible to work with – a huge shout out has to go to the Venue Manager, Bianca, who helped relieve a lot of stress when planning our day.”
