“From the moment I walked in the door where Hannah was getting ready, and I witnessed her dad hold her and her younger sister so tightly, I knew that it was going to be a good day full of genuine connections”, says Christo and Hannah’s phenomenal photographer James Day from Daylight Wedding Photography.
As it turns out he was right, and his pictures say it all. Married by Christo’s dad (also the pastor of their church) their ceremony was an especially poignant moment. “When I was walking up the aisle and saw Christo for the first time, I saw him reach for his mouth and his eyes filled with joy and tears, it made me feel like the most beautiful girl in the world”, says Hannah who wore a simple yet stunning Grace Loves Lace gown.
“… the first time I saw my beautiful bride looking more beautiful than she has ever looked before, I never had to fight my tears back that much (until I just caved in)” says Christo who, along with both dads built the ceremony archway and pews from recycled wood from around Camp Obadiah – a picturesque 75 acre property four hours north of Sydney.
A couple who clearly loves to dance, Hannah and Christo were able to create a day that was almost entirely DIY with the help of loving friends and family. “We make chalkboard signs, scrabble letter signs, we made our invitations and save the date cards, collected all the jars, bottles, crates, suitcases etc.” says Hannah who despite her own amazing efforts, was glad she had floral stylist Sarah J Hudson on board for the ride.
Clearly having way too good a time, Hannah tells us, “We completely forgot to cut the cake, and by that stage a lot of people had already left so instead of cutting it like a civilised bride and groom would do, we counted to three and both just planted our faces into the cake and took massive chunks, the aftermath of this being cleaning cream cheese frosting out of our noses, ha!”
