These two lovers own their very own cafe (Little Tienda Thornbury, FYI) together so collaborating on a wedding came naturally, meaning DIY was a must. Christina and Nick tied the knot beachside before celebrating in an epic foodie and dance fest on a private property. Admitting that they wanted an excuse for a massive party and the chance to “look hot while doing so” these two quirky peeps also promised to stick together till the end. FAVOURITE DETAILS “The arbour that one of our groomsmen Huw made for us is super special. He fabricated it out of a light enough steel so it could be carried down the epic set of stairs to the beach. Now we have this beautiful souvenir from the day to keep in our garden for the rest of our lives! Plus, the fact that my bridesmaid Ashley’s husband decorated it with the flowers was the icing on the cake. Greg is by no means a florist or has ever done anything like this, but he somehow ended up with that job on the day of the wedding and smashed it!”
THE DRESS(ES) “They could not have been more perfect! I had no intention of wearing a traditional white flowy wedding dress. I wanted something sparkly and sexy, and I wanted two of them! The dress I wore for the ceremony and up until our first dance was made by a local designer and dressmaker called Cassandra Renee Couture. I saw the exact dress I ended up with on Instagram, literally after spending a miserable day in a bridal salon which I hated every minute of. I was having a drink with my bridesmaid scrolling through dresses on Instagram and hers popped up. So I went straight to her website, and believe it or not the exact dress happened to be on the sample sale. So I booked in to see the dress the next day and it fit like a glove so I bought it on the spot. I was so relieved because I did not want to have to go to another bridal salon! I knew I was going to need another dress to dance in. My friend Belinda Wiltshire, who is also an extremely talented painter, offered to make me a dress. We designed it together, found a fabric on Etsy which was shipped from Ukraine, and she made it in less than 2 weeks! She even made the knickers I wore underneath to compliment the sheer skirt of the dress.”
LITTLE LOL “We had so many funny stories from the day of the wedding! Nick had purchased a proper bow tie that you are meant to tie on your own, yet had no clue how to tie it. He spent ages that morning with his groomsmen watching youtube videos on how to do it, and a couple of the groomsmen and Nick’s sister all had a go at it with no success. Then, in walks Nick’s German Aunt Helga, she’s never tied one before, but nails it the first try in about 30 seconds.”
STANDOUT VENDORS “We were incredibly lucky to have had such amazing vendors! They were all great, but we were truly blown away by our photographer Kyra! She was a treat to be around, our guests all commented on how cool she is, and most importantly, she took the most stunning photos and truly captured the fun, emotions and personalities of us and our guests. Fresh Fork Catering provided STELLAR food and service, and since we are in the industry, we are particularly fussy with that stuff, we couldn’t be more pleased with Paul and his staff. Gary from Jamsheed wines provided the most beautiful wines that everyone still raves about. Over the Top Events also went above and beyond our expectations with their customer service and the beautiful marquee set up. And our 2 lovely DJS- Sophie and Collette who played the tunes that got everyone on the dancefloor and kept playing until the wee hours of the morning!”
