It didn’t take us long to realise that Cheryl and Tim are two seriously cool cats. Married atop one of Melbourne’s most beautiful rooftop carparks, also known as Federation Square Pop Up Patch, Cheryl and Tim managed to create a city-meets-country style wedding that featured all our favourite things, including photographer Farrah Allan, cinematographer Alastair Innes from She Takes Pictures He Makes Films and an exceptionally cute cake topper by ReadyGoWeddingCo.
“Family and the outdoors are important to us so we wanted them to feature strongly in our wedding. One of the first things we agreed upon was to have each of our siblings as our respective ‘Man of Honour’ and ‘Best Woman’, says Cheryl who as a nod to her Indonesian Chinese heritage also included a small tea ceremony as part of their wedding.
“Cheryl walked down the aisle to ‘You Make My Dreams Come True” by Hall and Oates and couldn’t resist breaking out into a little dancey-bop to this happy song. This caused the congregation to break out into laughter”, says Tim, who thought she looked just as beautiful in her American Rag gown and Mariana Hardwick veil as she did in her Carla Zampatti gown and Gorman sneakers only hours before.
Later, Ormond Hall provided the perfect space for their reception where guests enjoyed cakes by Le Petit Gateau and a well-rehearsed first dance. “We also loved our wedding dance classes with Lara at Forever Dance. Planning a wedding and working full-time (Cheryl was setting up her own business!) makes for a really busy time so it was wonderful having to take the time out to slow things down and stand close together”, says Tim. “It was a nice reminder that at the end of the day, this marriage would be about the two of us.”
