Meet Catherine and David, a delightful couple from Byron Bay. We’re so excited to be featuring them on the blog today because there’s a lot we love about how they got hitched.
David proposed early one morning on the beach, having prepared a breakfast picnic from the garage to avoid any suspiscion. “I was still half asleep and in my pyjamas when I saw the picnic and realised he was going to propose. It was a huge surprise”, said Catherine. It then made sense that such an intimate proposal would be followed by an intimate, low-key wedding that mimicked what these two lovers are all about – outdoor adventures and places to peace out.
Seeing these candid pics by Justin Aaron, who also featured in our first ever issue of Hello May and shot their engagement, was like eating tapas – we got to sample all our favourite things at once. Like the wonderful decorations and styling by Little Grey Station, who continue to offer us endless wedding inspiration.
“We worked with the natural beauty of the venue to create a wedding that felt like a secret, hidden away in the hinterland in this beautiful space with lots of gorgeous brightly coloured flowers, eclectic music, and amazing food”, said Catherine, who spent much of her time designing their invitations and making lace buntings.
A marquee filled with flowers and a DJ spinning vinyl, we couldn’t think of a much better way to say I Do!
