Surrounded by lush greenery and 85 of their favourite people, Carly and Aden tied the knot in Melbourne, celebrating across two seriously gorgeous venues: Glasshaus Outside and Glasshaus Brucke in Richmond. Known for their abundant greenery and urban garden aesthetics, the pair were right at home among the leafy surrounds, bold red wedding flowers and plenty of party-ready details.

ith their kids close by, family woven into every part of the day and a dance floor that went well into the night, this was a wedding that put personality ahead of tradition. Carly and Aden skipped anything that didn’t feel like them, creating a relaxed ceremony that rolled straight into a full-blown celebration.

“We ran the ceremony how we wanted, casual, with our kids hanging off us,” they share. “It was the most perfect day, flowing from a family love fest into a true wild party – exactly us. We honestly look back and wouldn’t change a thing.”

From personalised wedding details and meaningful family moments to standout florals and a seriously good live music lineup, there’s plenty to love about this Richmond wedding. Scroll on for all the goodness, captured by “hands down incredible” Melbourne wedding photographer Dani Bartlett.

A leafy urban garden wedding at Glasshaus, Richmond

“We saw two other venues in the lead up, but in the end we knew we wanted the venue to be in our Richmond bubble. A lot of our community is in Richmond and it felt very us having a Richmond wedding. Our first kiss was also on the Glasshaus Outside bench after a night out, so that venue felt perfect for the ceremony and once we saw Glasshaus Brucke we knew it was meant to be.”

Personalised wedding details, bold red flowers and party vibes

“Is it lame to [say] everything; the flowers against the Glasshaus venue were amazing. I felt like a movie star in my dress. Aden’s suit was incredible, the custom lining elite. All our little details which I/we spent so much time on we felt was worth it, from the favours to the place cards, we had a lucky in love scratchy cards, photos of our loved ones who couldn’t make it, tambourines for our entrance, lots of fun all round and all received a lot of compliments.”

How Carly and Aden found their wedding suppliers

“Either Instagram, from real weddings on Hello May or just a good old Google to hunt down what I was after.”

Making their wedding a big family moment

“My grandma (Mama) who was our only grandparent who could join us on the day was also our ring bearer at the ceremony and that was extremely special. We also did our family commitment ceremony with the girls saying I do before we did our vows and we had pre-given them an engraved necklace, which was cool. Lastly, we both had family members who had passed and were big parts of our lives, so we ensured we had photos of them at the reception and a sign that read ‘To our loved ones, dancing with us from somewhere else today. We love you and you are forever in our hearts.’”

The wedding suppliers who made it happen

Dani Bartlett, their wedding photographer, went above and beyond to capture the day. Carly and Aden even booked her for candid family photos in the weeks before the wedding, which made having her there on the day feel like having a friend behind the camera.

“Hands down incredible,” they say, praising Dani’s general vibe, advice, flower pinning, time management and, of course, her “general awesomeness”.

Their celebrant, Prue Takle, also gets a big tick. After taking the time to get to know the couple through pub catch-ups, online chats and surveys, Prue delivered a ceremony that felt true to them, then stayed on as MC so their friends could put their feet up and enjoy the party. Legend behaviour.

And when it came to the music? Like This Entertainment absolutely brought it.

“We spent the most time thinking and talking about our music as we knew this would make or break the scene, and Like This Entertainment absolutely nailed it. We had two amazing vocalists who set the tone at the ceremony and then brought the energy up at the cocktail hour and built the band up to a four-piece band at the reception into a DJ sax – so wild!”
