It was a hot and sticky day when Tim packed a surprise picnic hoping to propose to Caitlin at one of their favourite spots in Newcastle. Upon arrival, Caitlin, convinced she just might die from the unbearable weather, decided sunbathing with her shirt over her head seemed like a great way to beat the heat.
“Eventually she sat up, and when she saw the ring she burst into tears – the surprise had worked! After getting over the initial shock, Caitlin commented ‘if only we had a picnic, this would be perfect’ – that’s when my butterflies stopped and I couldn’t stop smiling – success!”
Deciding on a “romantic boho secret garden” theme, this pair wanted a whimsical day with lots of vintage brass vessels and candlesticks, wood, and tonnes of flowers and greenery. That’s when they found Summerlees, an elegant estate south of Sydney, AKA their dream venue.
“When we visited Summerlees, we both just fell in love with the charm and history and feel of the place and we knew immediately it was the one for us,” explains Caitlin, who rocked a stylish look by Makeup By Megan and an Inbal Dror gown and veil.
“As soon as I came out of the change room, the dress just blew us all away. My maid of honour and I had a few tears, a cuddle and a glass of champagne – I definitely had my dream dress moment.”
