After a proposal abroad, Caitlin and Matt began their journey to create the perfect wedding. With hopes of creating a day inspired by themselves, the two organised a day that was part Nordic, part country, part Matt and part Caitlin. “We were very mindful of making the wedding very us and not just doing things because ‘that’s what people or our family do/did’. We’d often catch our selves saying that as a justification for doing something when we were organising, and as soon as we’d hear ourselves say it, we’d reevaluate – just to make sure.”
Held at Poachers Pantry just minutes from Canberra, Caitlin and Matt hired a boatload of talented vendors to help put together their relaxed, intimate day including Your Event Solution, Show Pony Events and Flowers by Alexandra Rogers. “Our florist, Alexandra, deserves a special shout out for the amount of work she put into the flower garlands – 3 X 10m strands of flowers, rigged to the ceiling! They looked so beautiful! She also really helped guide us with flower choices – as we had no idea!! Whenever we wanted something, she was so helpful,” explains Caitlin, who opted for a Jaton Couture dress/playsuit.
“I just felt so me in the outfit- I have always been a bit adventurous with my clothing, it’s one part of my personality that is quite extrovert (I’m otherwise quite shy),” says the bride, who hired Hello May faves The White Tree and photographer Kelly Tunney for the big day as well as celebrant Roger Buckley.
Now experience in planning the event of a lifetime, these two leave other couples with this bit of advice: “Be true to what you want from the day, and really think about what that is and looks like before you get too deep into the planning.”
