Both school teachers in rural Queensland, Brooke and Nico have quite a history, having met back when they were 12 years old. However, it was eight years of dating and a determination to tie the knot, despite COVID imposing multiple restrictions and a pre-wedding downpour, that led to this understated yet elegant day. With the bride donning one of our fave brands, Grace Loves Lace, and the wonderful Bonnie Jenkins behind the lens, there is plenty of inspo to be drawn by scrolling all the way down…
THE VIBE “We wanted something simple. A blank canvas with beautiful surroundings, and that’s exactly what we got! We love the simplicity and rustic vibe of Obi Obi Hall. It is situated in a stunning part of the Sunshine coast.”
FAVOURITE DETAILS “We loved our flowers. Holly, our sister-in-law, went to the Brisbane flower markets the day before and arranged them all herself. We were absolutely in awe of her work. Seeing the beautiful bouquets made me so emotional!”
DIY “We collected multicoloured leaves from our friend’s property in the Bunya Mountains and hand-stamped little love hearts out of them. Many hours were spent punching them out in front of the TV at night! Our mums [also] began sourcing things from op shops since the day Nico popped the question! We gave them a brief and they hit the nail on the head, finding the most amazing brass candle holders, vases and crystal cut glasses.”
THE DRESS “I wore the beautiful silk Loyola Gown from Grace Loves Lace. I wanted something simple, yet elegant. I knew it was the one the moment I put it on. I glanced over to mum and her tears confirmed – it was the one!”
A WORD OF ADVICE “Stick to a budget – it’s doable! There are some things that really don’t matter and can be done DIY.”
WE’RE GLAD WE… “We’re so glad we decided to hire a marquee. The original plan was to use the hall, but social distancing measures didn’t allow for all of our guests. It ended up creating the perfect space, inadvertently bringing the surrounding hills into our reception.”
