This classy duo – Bella and Dom – knew early on that they wanted to spend the rest of their lives together. However, prior to Dom popping the question, the pair hadn’t really discussed what they might like out of a wedding day. “The more we spoke about it, the more we realised that a large, traditional wedding was not our style,” the newlyweds explained.
A simple, chic, Brisbane city elopement was much more Bella and Dom’s style, artfully captured by Alix Dubois Photography (“absolutely fantastic to work with”). After the ‘I do’s, the happy couple, with an intimate group of friends and fam, headed to sAme sAme’s private dining room to celebrate. As for accommodation, they made the genius decision to book The Calile Hotel (boasting a convenient location, and quick-thinking staff, as you’ll read below).
You’ll be impressed to know that Bella and Dom locked all these plans down just three months out (yep!), and, looking back, they say it all felt true to who they are as a couple. “We wouldn’t have done it any other way”. That’s what we like to hear!
GETTING MARRIED AT THE REGISTRY
“We very quickly decided on the Brisbane Registry for our ceremony. It was extremely fuss-free and affordable to organise… [The staff] were absolutely fantastic to deal with. sAme sAme in Fortitude Valley was the most natural choice for our dinner venue. It’s one of our all-time favourite restaurants, and it felt even more meaningful noting that Dom comes from a Thai background. We were able to book their open-air private dining room for 28 guests. We chose a set menu and drinks package which made everything so easy to organise. The food and drinks were absolutely incredible. All of our guests were so impressed with how delicious everything was. The sAme sAme staff went above and beyond to make sure that we were looked after! Additionally, we stayed at The Calile Hotel which was centrally located between the two venues, which made everything really convenient.

“We were obsessed with the quality of our florals. We organised our florals through Avalon Florals in Fortitude Valley. They provided the bouquet, boutonniere and a huge bunch of mixed flowers which we cut down ourselves to create arrangements for the tables in the private dining room.”
SMALL BRISBANE WEDDING
“We loved being able to include our immediate family in our ceremony at the registry. It was such a nice time for us to all connect on a smaller scale before the party started with the rest of our friends and family in the evening. We also both really appreciated being able to spend time with each other during our photography session with Alix, who made things pressure free and enjoyable! Additionally, meeting up with all of our dinner guests at LOS Bar for pre-dinner cocktails was so much fun!”
LITTLE LOL
“Dom and I decided we would meet up at our hotel after getting ready to travel to the registry together. As we were getting out of the elevator, Dom stepped on the train of my dress and ripped my dress where the skirt attached to the bodice. We both kept our composure and did not panic! Thankfully the staff at The Calile reception were able to pin my dress back together. Their work was so well done that you couldn’t even tell that the dress had been ripped. Looking back, it’s a bit of a comical moment for us… Special shout-out to the staff at The Calile for their quick thinking and incredible tailoring skills!”
