These guys are cute as pie, people. Issac got down on not one, but two knees to propose (“he was nervous,” adds Nikki) and we are here for their love story (and subsequent nuptials, of course)! Dressed in Harriette Gordon and Hera Couture (with a Grew & Co engagement ring, no less), we can’t take our eyes off the bride, and the love is simply leaping from the pics by lens lady Nikki McCrone. THE VENUE “As we would be having lots of friends and family visiting from New Zealand, we knew we wanted to create a weekend ‘experience’, where our guests would not have to worry about a thing. Barunah Plains ticked every single box. The options were endless to build our dream wedding from the ground up. The Shearers Quarters sleeps up to 42 guests, plus there is endless space to pitch glamping tents.”
THE INSPO “I always loved the idea of a big white wedding! As long as I can remember, my favourite movie has been ‘Father of the Bride’. I imagined my own wedding with an abundance of flowers and a marquee full of fairy lights. This inspiration definitely influenced the end result on the day.”
THE DRESS “After looking forward to this moment for my whole life, I was surprised that I didn’t enjoy dress shopping. I found it quite overwhelming and hard to envisage the ‘end product’ (i.e with hair, makeup, tan and fitting correctly). A lot of what I originally thought I would love, looked terrible and didn’t suit me. After about 12 unsuccessful appointments, my Mum and I visited Bluebell Bridal in the Melbourne CBD. I loved that they had a range of diverse styles to try. I found ‘the dress’ by Harriette Gordon [with an overlay by Hera Couture] but still had many sleepless nights over it!”
REFERENCES “I referred to Instagram a lot and would often find myself at 3am down a deep wedding rabbit hole! After getting engaged, my mum purchased every Hello May magazine she could get her hands on. We had the best time trawling through pages in the midst of Melbourne winter. I would then go on to stalk Instagram the brides from the Hello May Real Weddings! This is how I discovered our wonderful photographer, Nikki McCrone.”
A WORD OF ADVICE “We stuck closely to some advice we received – don’t run around trying to talk to every single guest. When engaging in conversation with someone, take your time and make it meaningful. Also, I spent many sleepless nights worrying about the weather. However, when the day came, calm came over me. We had rain, mud and even thunder and lightning to top it all off. Try to let it go. Nothing could wipe the smiles off our faces – not even Isaac’s big muddy footprint standing on my dress five minutes into the ceremony!”
WE’RE GLAD WE… “Had our legend of a photographer, Nikki McCrone, back for a few hours on recovery day – this took the pressure off getting every shot with our guests on the wedding day.
STANDOUT VENDORS “Our photographer, Nikki McCrone, made us feel like naturals (which we most definitely are not!). she pumped the tunes and got the job done in the most perfect way possible. She also sent us the most amazing sneak peek of photos the very next day. We cannot recommend her highly enough. And our wedding planner and stylist, Laura, from Wanderlust Creative, was cool, calm and collected throughout the whole process and most importantly on the day.”
