No stranger to the spotlight, Channel 7 reporter Bec and her beau, Drew, tell us their I Do’s’ were one heck of a celebration thanks to a spectacular team of suppliers (first featured in our issue 17). £They really went above and beyond. The design and layout were changed quite a few times because we didn’t know what the weather was going to do (stressful to say the least). These guys pulled together and put in such a huge effort to create what was truly the most magical and dreamy wedding we’d ever experienced. As one guest put it, this is just like Father of the Bride…but on steroids!’ You gotta be happy with that,— explains Bec, who wanted to bring back some old school classic glamour with their day of good times.

£I’m a sucker for the Golden Hollywood movies set in the forties and fifties, it’s something Mum and I love to watch. So Pallas Couture made my dress – a modern take on a Grace Kelly classic. The top part is incredible, it’s an optical illusion which makes the dress look as though it’s cascading down my shoulders. You can’t really tell where the lace starts and finishes. It was an absolute dream of a dress and it was such a special experience designing it and heading to the fittings with Mum,— says the bride, who asked her Perth based designer to call the gown Genelle’ (after her mum) if it ever becomes destined to join their permanent collection.

As far as funny stories go? This fun-loving pair had a few to share with us, including their struggle to get their agate and stone name tags and table numbers.—It took us three goes to get them sent to us from Brazil. The first batch broke, the second batch was stolen…and replaced with Star Wars lanyards! To Drew’s dismay, we didn’t have Star Wars lanyards at the wedding. They eventually arrived, just two days before the big day.— Phew!

While these newlyweds joke that marriage involves three rings (the engagement ring, wedding ring and suffering), their love for one another, as well as their family, was evident throughout the nuptials. Bec, on the day, sported a family heirloom – her Oma’s sapphire ring, which all of the women in her family have worn on their wedding day (ticking off the boxes of something old and something blue). Further incorporating her lovely fam into the festivities, Bec walked down the aisle to a 1950’s recording of her Nanna Shirley singing Ava Maria on ABC Radio. £She had the voice of an angel. She has dementia now but I’m told she recognised her voice straight away, which was really touching,— Bec tells us, adding that it was one (amongst many) of her fave memories from the day.

Another stand-out moment, she says, was the first dance with her now official forever human. £We were in a love bubble and forgot people were watching us. Drew never took his gaze away from mine.— Fortunately the wonder workers at the Keeper Creative were there to capture these gorgeous moments, and boy are we glad they did!
