For newlyweds Astrid and Caleb, marriage is about “getting to experience life with your best friend.” These lovebirds got hitched with a “simple but beautiful” celebration in regional Victoria – to say we’re smitten is an understatement. The whole soiree looked straight from the pages of a fairytale, and the pair shared with us that they were glad to have kept it “small and intimate”.
Astrid and Caleb entrusted The Moissanite Company with their wedding rings (a fab choice), while Smith + Archer took care of the happy snaps, which we think are, to quote the couple’s aisle and recessional song, “simply the best.” Scroll to see for yourself.
THE VENUE “We booked our venue (Lake House) before we visited it! Ella was so lovely to deal with, and the pictures she sent were so stunning we knew we had found the perfect venue. When we visited the Lake House and met Ella, we knew straightaway we had 100% made the right choice. I knew I wanted the venue to have beautiful natural surroundings and the reception room to have lots of natural light and a lovely view. The Lake House well and truly had all of these elements.”
THE VIBE “I wasn’t really sure what theme I wanted, but I knew I wanted everything to be simple but beautiful. Blue is our favourite colour and this was how we decided on blue as the ‘feature’ colour for the florals.”
FAVE DETAILS “I loved every detail, but one of my favourite was the reception. The Waterfront Pavilion was a dream. The styling and florals were perfect, and as it got darker, the candles and beautiful lighting really added to this. Another of our favourite details was the incredible food and drinks served by the Lake House. Everyone still talks about how delicious and well-presented everything was.”
THE DRESS “ I first saw my dress on Instagram, and from there I enquired with Prea James about the Amelie gown. For a couple of different reasons, I wasn’t going to be able to get the gown on time for the wedding. I thought I would have to try and find something else, but I couldn’t forget the Amelie gown; I knew it was the dress for me! After hours and hours of searching and being very close to giving up I found the Amelie gown, in my size, for sale at Ilka. Ilka re-sells bridal gowns, so I was very lucky that another Bride had made the decision to sell her gown. So, I bought my gown online without trying it on or seeing it in person. It was absolutely worth it, though.”
TALK ABOUT TRADITION “ We sang a wedding hymn that was sung at my parents’ wedding. It was a very touching and special moment.”
STANDOUT VENDORS “All of our vendors were absolutely incredible. Each time we communicated with our vendors, we knew they were perfect for us. Everyone was so accommodating, and no request was too difficult. In particular, Ella and Christina (Lake House), Sue (Celebrant), and Smith + Archer (Photographer) were incredibly organised and caring. They all went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable, and everything ran smoothly. Without these lovely ladies, our day would not have been the same.”
