Best tune in, lovely readers, because Ashlee and Elliot are keen to share the joys of eloping. Luxury accommodation, a decadent three-course meal (with leftovers for the next day) and oodles of time with the one you love most are just a few of the reasons these two decided to make their day purely about them. Together for five years, yet having known each other since kindergarten, these two lovers have no regrets. You have Jon Gazzignato and Bree of Light Noise Films to thank for the gold you are about to peruse, so, make haste and get scrolling…

THE VENUE “We both fell in love immediately – it was secluded, rustic and absolutely beautiful. It was just perfect. We didn’t get to see it [Thalia Haven] in person until the wedding day, but we had no hesitations after seeing the photos.”

THE VIBE “Us. We just wanted the day to be about us, so we did everything that we loved and that made us comfortable. We’re both anxious people and even just attending a large wedding as guests is sometimes a bit overwhelming so we wanted to make sure everything about the day was relaxed and comfortable.”

FAVOURITE DETAILS “Our lovely celebrant Merren picked up the flowers from Lisa Kingston Flowers. We didn’t know what the flowers were going to be, I just provided Lisa with a picture of the kimono I planned to wear for the wedding and she picked in-season flowers that would fit with the outfit. They were so beautiful.”

FAVOURITE MOMENT “It would be when I first saw Elliot after we were all dressed up. We were both emotional and just besotted with each other in that moment. It was lovely. Once we had finished the legal part and our intimate ceremony, we wandered over to the cliff edge just in time to see a double rainbow appear. We thought it must be the universe giving us a thumbs up or something when we both burst into laughter because our celebrant, Merren, was jumping and dancing on top of the hill behind us with a huge smile on her face. That moment felt like it really captured what our elopement was all about; it was just a moment of pure joy and freedom.”

LITTLE LOL “We aren’t really drinkers at all so we decided to toast with tea on the cliff instead. At the time of the double rainbow appearing we were laughing at Merren’s joyful dancing and I spilled hot tea all over my dress because I missed my mouth.”

WE’RE GLAD WE “We are so glad that we eloped. We were able to celebrate with our family over lunch a few weeks later when we were back home. When it came to celebrating with friends, we were able to have separate coffee, brunch and dinner dates to fit in with everyone’s busy lives. It kind of extended the celebrations doing it that way and if we had to do it all over again we wouldn’t change a thing.”
