Not so long ago, in the faraway land of Tomerong (a little village in New South Wales’ South Coast), Drew and Ash hosted an epic wedding. The Woods Farm was where this “whimsical fairytale” went down. Straight from a storybook, we can see why Ash always had her heart set on this space. Plus, the ability to stretch celebrations out over the weekend with guests glamping onsite was a clear highlight for the couple.
A bit boho, a bit eclectic, a bit vintage – it’s an all-round aesthetic delight peppered with pretty pops of lavender (with our buds Bec + Bridge featured within the bridesmaids ‘fits). Ash, a self-confessed DIY Queen, made many of the stationery and signage elements. But they had some help from the pros, too: hiring an audio guestbook from Off The Hook, calling in Violette Cove to get the good vibes going, and entrusting Translucent Photography with capturing the day. MEMORABLE MOMENT “We actually had a ‘surprise ring bearer’. We organised with our incredible celebrant (Your Day by Kerrin) to hide our rings under a random seat before the ceremony. When it was time, Kerrin swiftly asked everyone to look under their seats, [and] Drew’s cousin Chris popped up excitedly. As he came down the aisle, Kerrin asked [Chris] for the dance move he planned on doing on the dance floor. Chris promptly went into the most amazing worm we have ever seen. I doubt anyone will forget this hilarious moment! We also had ‘beer boys’ instead of flower girls. Two of the groomsman came skipping down the aisle holding hands, handing out beers from their baskets. This [reflected] Drew’s love for craft beer, and definitely got the party started and relaxed the nerves.”
THE DRESS “I had already planned to go to Byron Bay for a Spell warehouse sale with my mum and daughter, much before I had any idea of our engagement and before we had even announced it. Drew’s sister (who shares my love for Spell) actually messaged me saying they had bridal wear available – wink wink. When we arrived and walked in, the dress was hanging on the front of a rack, right in our eyesight. In my size! So there I was, trying on my wedding dress with my mum and daughter, in a crowded open warehouse change room. I couldn’t imagine finding my dress in a more perfect way. It honestly felt like the dress chose me. I had the gown altered into a two-piece, which made it the most perfect fit for me, and I think truly added to it being a ‘one of a kind’.”
COOL CUSTOM “I walked down the aisle with my daughter Lexi, and Drew met us halfway. We embraced together, and continued down together as a family. We also had our two greyhounds, Luna and Marley, included in the ceremony. They wore outfits to match the bridesmaids, and Drew walked down the aisle with them. We couldn’t imagine our wedding without our three beautiful girls, Lexi, Luna and Marley.”
STANDOUT VENDORS “Our photographer, Lucy (Translucent Photography), was even better than we expected. We chose her as we had seen the standout photos she had taken. She truly blew our expectations in how she captured all our special moments and memories. The Woods Farm was incredible and extremely helpful with everything on and leading up to the day. It was the perfect DIY venue, allowing us to create our dream wedding and truly bring the vision to life.”
